Energy Imbalance Service. The rates below apply to Transmission Customers taking Energy Imbalance Service from BPA. Energy Imbalance Service is taken when there is a difference between scheduled and actual energy delivered to a load in the BPA Control Area during a scheduling period. Accounting for hourly schedules will be on an hourly basis, and accounting for intra-hour schedules will be on the customer’s shortest scheduling period in the hour.
Energy Imbalance Service. Energy Imbalance Service is provided when a difference occurs between the scheduled and actual delivery of energy to a load located within a Control Area. BPA must offer this service when the transmission service is used to serve load within BPA’s Control Area. The Transmission Customer must either purchase this service from BPA or make alternative comparable arrangements specified in the Transmission Customer’s Service Agreement to satisfy its Energy Imbalance Service obligation.

Energy Imbalance Service. Western Interconnection is provided when a difference occurs between the scheduled and the actual delivery of energy to a load located within the Balancing Authority Area(s) in the Western Interconnection over a single hour. The Transmission Customer must either purchase this service from the Transmission Provider or make alternative comparable arrangements to satisfy its Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection obligation. Unless the Transmission Customer makes alternative comparable arrangements, the Transmission Provider will obtain this service from the affected Balancing Authority Areas or elsewhere, where appropriate, and the Transmission Customer shall pay the Transmission Provider for this service when the Transmission Provider provides this service to the Transmission Customer. Charges to the Transmission Customer are to reflect only a pass-through of the costs charged to the Transmission Provider by that Balancing Authority or other suppliers. The Transmission Provider shall pass through the revenues it receives for this service to the Balancing Authority or other suppliers providing the service. In the event that Western-UGP provides such Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection as a Balancing Authority, the Transmission Provider shall assess the Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection charge to load in the Western Area Power Administration, Upper Great Plains West Balancing Authority Area (“WAUW”) as specified in Western-UGP’s currently effective Rate Schedule for Energy Imbalance – WAUW, which will be posted on the Transmission Provider’s Open Access Same-Time Information System. In the event that NorthWestern Energy provides such Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection as a Balancing Authority, the Transmission Provider shall assess the Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection charge to load in the NorthWestern Energy Balancing Authority Area (“NWMT”) as specified in NorthWestern Energy’s currently effective Rate Schedule for Energy Imbalance Service in NWMT, as posted on NorthWestern Energy’s Open Access Same-Time Information System. In the event that Western Area Power Administration, Rocky Mountain Region (“Western- RMR”) provides such Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection as a Balancing Authority, the Transmission Provider shall assess the Energy Imbalance Service – Western Interconnection charge to load in the Western Area Power Administration, Colorado-Missouri Region Bala...

Energy Imbalance Service. Energy Imbalance Service is provided when a difference occurs between the scheduled and the actual delivery of energy to a load located within a Control Area over a single hour. The Transmission Customer must either purchase this service from GRDA or make alternative comparable arrangements to satisfy its Energy Imbalance Service obligation. To the extent, the Control Area Operator performs this service for GRDA, charges to the Transmission Customer are to reflect only a pass-through of the costs charged to GRDA by that Control Area Operator. GRDA shall establish a deviation band of +/-1.5 percent (with a minimum of 2 MW) of the scheduled transaction to be applied hourly to any energy imbalance that occurs as a result of the Transmission Customer's scheduled transaction(s). Parties should attempt to eliminate energy imbalances within the limits of the deviation band within thirty (30) days or within such other reasonable period of time as is generally accepted in the region and consistently adhered to by GRDA. If an energy imbalance is not corrected within thirty (30) days or a reasonable period of time that is generally accepted in the region and consistently adhered to by GRDA, the Transmission Customer will Compensate GRDA for such service. Energy imbalances outside the deviation band will be subject to charges to be specified by GRDA. The charges for Energy Imbalance Service are set forth below: Charges for Energy Imbalance Service: Energy Imbalance within Deviation Band. The Transmission Customer may elect energy return to eliminate imbalances occurring within the Deviation Band, with such election stated within the Transmission Customer's Service Agreement. If energy return is selected, the Parties will eliminate energy imbalances occurring within Deviation Band by returning energy in-kind within one calendar month. If energy is not returned within this time period, the Transmission Customer will compensate GRDA for such service, as described below:

Energy Imbalance Service. Deviations between Microsoft Metered Energy and Transmission Customer Base Schedule over a single hour shall be accounted for and treated as Imbalance Energy. Charges or credits for such Imbalance Energy will be as specified in the OATT. If Microsoft aggregates Loads for the purpose of power supply, then Microsoft shall have the right to aggregate its Loads and Supplied Power for purposes of determining the hourly Imbalance Energy. Microsoft has no obligation to provide excess Energy required for Energy Imbalance Service using its own generation resources, but shall make commercially reasonable efforts to obtain in the market such excess Energy.
