Coursework. Credit may be earned by taking courses at universities, colleges, junior colleges, trade schools, adult schools, or District in-service. Courses must be completed to receive credit with a passing grade of “C” or better assigned. A certification of satisfactory completion, signed by the instructor will be accepted until grade transcripts are available. Credit points will be assigned as follows:  College, junior college, or trade school courses: one (1) point per semester hour  Two (2) adult education courses = one (1) college course  Eighteen (18) hours class work constitutes the equivalent of one (1) semester hour  Three (3) quarter units = Two (2) semester units

Coursework a. If the member held a master’s degree at the time of initially receiving a teaching certificate/license, the member must have completed six (6) semester hours of graduate coursework in the area of licensure or in an area related to the teaching field since the issuance of the certificate/license.

(16 hours of classwork constitute the equivalent of one semester hour.) − Correspondence school courses will be prorated according to semester hours of credit allowed for the course. Coursework in progress at the end of one professional growth increment period may be carried over to another period if declared at the beginning of the next increment period. Coursework in progress at the time of Board adoption of these regulations will receive credit.

Coursework any college coursework for bargaining unit members who possess a Designated Subjects credential but do not possess a bachelor’s degree must be directly related to the trade, to the class assignment, to the job function of the unit member or otherwise promote professional growth as determined by the District. Coursework taken toward a degree or another teaching authorization will be considered. Only coursework completed after the issuance of a Designated Subjects credential can be considered. Coursework must take place after normal working hours or hours taken in a non-paid status. All coursework must be verified by a transcript from the sponsoring institution. Coursework units may be rated lower division or continuing education by the institution granting the units
Coursework. Instructors who must leave after the student day is over, but before the instructor's workday is over to travel to pre-approved classes shall be allowed to do so with no loss of pay, leave time, or benefits. Educational Support Personnel who must leave during the normal workday to attend pre-approved classes shall be allowed to do so with no loss of pay, leave time, or benefits, and such time shall not be required to be made up.
