Career Advancement. A) In order to attain Professional Teacher Status, the Educator should achieve ratings of proficient or exemplary on each Performance Standard and overall. A principal considering making an employment decision that would lead to PTS for any Educator who has not been rated proficient or exemplary on each performance standard and overall on the most recent evaluation shall confer with the superintendent by May 1. The principal’s decision is subject to review and approval by the superintendent.
Career Advancement. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to promote the continuing education, training, and upgrading of employees in areas that are job-related. Furthermore, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to meet personnel needs through career development to prepare for career advancement.
Career Advancement. The following section applies unless negotiated Locally: During the recent negotiations, the Union pointed out there are certain employees who wish to make application for a transfer into a classification of the same or lower salary grade in order to further their careers. The Company will consider an application for such a transfer provided the employee applies to transfer to a position within the bargaining unit that would represent a new career field and provided such a transfer would result in the potential opportunity for advancement into a higher graded position. Employees will be considered for placement on the same or lower salary grades within the bargaining unit prior to the hiring of new employees. Employees requesting consideration under the above arrangement shall make written application to Human Resources at least ten (10) working days prior to the date the opening occurs. In considering such applications, Management will give due regard both to the interests of the employee and to the effect such a transfer would have on the operation from and to which the employee wishes to transfer.

Career Advancement. A) In order to qualify to apply for a teacher leader position, the Educator must have had a Summative Evaluation performance rating of proficient or exemplary for at least the previous two years.
Career Advancement. 43.01 At any stage of an individual’s career, the individual has the right to request the necessary information and relevant study materials from the HRFE to advance his/her career. It is understood that it is the responsibility of the individuals to obtain the necessary skills and/or courses necessary to move their career forward. For any step level increases covered in this Article, Management will notify the affected members a minimum of sixty (60) days in advance of testing.
Career Advancement. (a) Probationary firefighter(s) or 4th Class Firefighter shall be entitled to the pay and benefits for the position as outlined in the Collective Agreement. The probationary period for all probationary firefighters is twelve (12) months from date of hire. The probationary period may be extended an additional six (6) months and the reasons for the extension shall be fully explained to the probationary firefighter.

Career Advancement. A. Filling Vacancies. A “vacancy” is a permanent opening created by the termination, transfer, promotion or retirement of an incumbent bargaining unit employee which the County intends to fill or which is created when the County determines its operational needs require additional bargaining unit employees. Whenever a vacancy occurs, and the County elects, in its discretion, to fill the vacancy through the competitive process, the County will advertise the specific position to bargaining unit employees by posting a notice at all work locations at places where notices to employees are customarily posted. At the same time, PGCOA will be notified of the vacancy. Any employee covered by this Agreement may apply for any vacancy, as defined in this section. In the event that a vacancy is to be filled from an existing register, if an employee is not already on the necessary eligibility register, he or she will be afforded the opportunity to qualify for the eligibility register. When a PGCOA bargaining unit member applies for a vacancy through the normal competitive process and is determined to be qualified for the position, the name of the qualified PGCOA bargaining unit employee will be placed on the list of eligibles sent to the Corrections Department for its consideration. The Corrections Department will ensure that any bargaining unit member on any list of eligibles will be granted an interview for the position vacancy.
Career Advancement. The University and the Union agree to establish a joint committee to provide bargaining unit employees with a career ladder to develop rank advancement opportunities. The committee shall consist of an equal number of representatives of both parties. The committee shall meet in the month of June 2021.
