Air Compressor. The engine-driven air compressor shall be sized to charge the air system from 40 PSI to the governor cutoff pressure in less than 3 minutes while not exceeding the fast idle speed setting of the engine. The air compressor shall be heavy-duty design and adequately sized to ensure constant air supply on demand without over cycling of the compressor. The air compressor shall not pass oil into the air system or cause carbon to restrict the air lines under any condition. The air compressor shall be protected from negative inlet conditions that may cause oil to be drawn into the air system.
