The Trust is able to support scholars who wish to undertake a period of Maternity or Paternity Leave during the tenure of their award; for more information, please see Section 4 of our guidelines.
Hours of Service credited shall be applied only to the Plan Year in which the Maternity or Paternity Leave begins unless such Hours of Service are not required to prevent the Employee from incurring a Break in Service, in which event such Hours of Service shall be credited to the Employee in the immediately following year.
Maternity or Paternity Leave, applied for but not commenced, will be cancelled when the pregnancy of an employee terminates other than by the birth of a living child.
A Participant shall be deemed to be on Maternity or Paternity Leave if the Participant is absent from work by reason of the pregnancy of the Participant, by reason of the birth of a child of the Participant, by reason of the placement of a child with the Participant in connection with the adoption of the child by such Participant, or for the purpose of caring for such child during the period immediately following such birth or placement.
