Vocational Training. Day Training Services provided to an individual in an industrial enclave, a work crew, a sheltered workshop, or an affirmative industry, to enable the individual to obtain employment. Contract funds are not used for the cost of production. Optional I. Day Habilitation: Assistance with acquiring, retaining, or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to live successfully in the community and to participate in home and community life. Individualized activities are consistent with achieving the outcomes identified in the individual’s plan of services and supports and activities are designed to reinforce therapeutic outcomes targeted by other service components, school or other support providers. Day habilitation is normally furnished in a group setting other than the individual’s residence for up to six hours a day, five days per week on a regularly scheduled basis. The service includes personal assistance for individuals who cannot manage their personal care needs during the day habilitation activity as well as assistance with medications and the performance of tasks delegated by a RN in accordance with state law. Vocational Training. 1. Vocational Training. The federations stress the importance of systematic development of human resources. The employer shall, as necessary, provide senior salaried employees with an annual opportunity to take part in vocational training enabling the maintenance and development of the employee’s vocational skills. The need for training may be established, for example, at performance appraisals conducted be- tween the employer and the senior salaried employee. In addition to regular annual working hours, the employer may as- sign senior salaried employees a maximum of 8 hours of training per calendar year at the workplace or in another location of the employer’s choosing if such training is necessary for the perfor- xxxxx of the work and it is of additional or complementary nature or related to the use of devices, well-being at work or safety or if it is a development event for boosting productivity, efficiency or quality. When assigning such training or development events, the senior salaried employees’ personal needs regarding working time shall be taken into account, where possible. Time spent in such training or events shall be counted as regular working hours on top of the regular annual working hours provid- ed for in the collective agreement. Remuneration corresponding to the basic rate of pay shall be paid for time spent in such training or development events. Training or development events may also be organised as an all-day event. Vocational Training. It is in the industry's interest that companies facilitate a continuing intake of apprentices in order to ensure recruitment for vocational training and especially to the electrical disciplines. The parties in the individual companies should in cooperation with all employees contribute to a good learning environment for the apprentices. Training shall be conducted in accordance with the Education Act and its regulations and current curriculum for the subject. Training companies undertaking training of one or more apprentices must be able to provide training which meets the requirements of the curriculum and have a trained professional responsible for training (academic director). For the electrical disciplines, we refer in this context to the Regulation on qualifications for electrical professionals (FEK). Supervisory authority (representative of the employees, cf. the Education Act § 4-7) for the apprentices and the academic director have important roles when it comes to following up on training apprentices in the individual company. The supervisory authority shall, if necessary, have sufficient time to follow up on the apprentice in collaboration with the academic director. Both the supervisory authority and the skilled worker who is undertaking the training must have the necessary knowledge of the current professional training system in order to give good guidance and training.

Minuted note: It was noted that under section 16 of the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings (Laki yhteistoiminnasta yrityksissä, no.334 of 2007) that took effect on 1 July 2007, an annual plan of Human resources and training objectives must be prepared in Co-operation negotiations in order to maintain and improve the occupational skills of salaried em- ployees. Foreseeable changes in enterprise operations of evident relevance to the structure, number or occupational skills of the workforce must be considered when preparing the plan of human resources and train- ing objectives.

Vocational Training. Unless otherwise agreed, the following provisions shall apply: When the employer provides professional training to employees or sends employees on training related to their professions, the employer shall cover the direct costs of the training without reducing the employees’ pay. If the training takes place outside of regular working hours, the employer shall cover the direct costs. No compensation shall be provided for time spent in training or related travel outside of regular working hours. Travel expenses are compensated according to the collective agreement. Guideline on application: The assessment on whether vocational training shall be counted as working time shall be done on the basis of the Working Hours Act. According to the Working Hours Act participation in training shall be regarded as fulfilling the obligation to work if training is compulsory under the employer’s orders and the participation in training is essential for the employee to perform his or her work duties. This kind of training includes eg. specific training with regard to equipment (such as training with regard to the maintenance and updating of support stations for radio networks and radio network centers or with regard to broad band or data transmission networks) or system training for employees in customer service or in other similar duties.
