Summer School Positions. Employees assigned to a school that will operate summer school programs will be notified of anticipated teaching positions at that school prior to filling those positions.

Summer School Positions. After the creation of summer school teaching positions, the procedure for filling these positions will follow the procedures established in Article V, Section B. When deemed necessary, any required time frame governing the procedures in Article V, Section B may be shortened and/or waived upon the agreement of the parties. Teachers in summer school positions shall receive the District Committee hourly rate for time working with students and one (1) additional hour of pay for planning purposes for every three (3) hours of time working with students.
Summer School Positions. Summer school positions will be posted in the normal manner of position openings during the school year and seniority will apply as described in Section 4 above. Wages will be paid at the immediately preceding school year rate (Community Education positions excluded). Sick leave does not accumulate during summer but employees with accumulated sick leave are eligible to use it up to a maximum of three (3) days for each summer. Hours of summer service do not count towards benefit eligibility.
Summer School Positions. Positions in the summer school programs shall be posted and filled by giving consideration to an applicant’s qualifications, certifications, merit and ability (including performance evaluations, if available) and relevant experience. This paragraph shall not imply the obligation of the Board to conduct a summer school, and if a summer school is conducted, no other provision of this Agreement shall apply unless otherwise specifically provided. The length of the applicant’s service in the District shall not be considered for a summer school position unless all other factors are considered to be equal. This section shall not prevent the hiring of new employees. The filling of any summer school position shall not be subject to the provisions of Article IV of this Agreement unless it is asserted that the District violated any of the procedural requirements of this section for the filling of the summer school position. Any qualified internal candidate for posted positions that are eligible to return to the District the following school year will be offered an interview by the interview committee.
