Interruption of Vacation. An employee may be permitted to interrupt or terminate vacation leave in order to begin another type of paid leave provided by this Agreement without a return to active service, provided the employee supplies notice and supporting information regarding the basis for such interruption or termination. The District shall give serious consideration to those requests where the nature of illness and or accident is incapacitating. ARTICLE10 LEAVES
Interruption of Vacation. When an employee’s scheduled vacation is interrupted due to serious illness or injury which commenced prior to and continues into the scheduled vacation period, the period of such illness shall be considered sick leave. When an employee’s scheduled vacation is interrupted due to serious illness or injury requiring the employee to be an inpatient in a hospital, the period of such hospitalization shall be considered sick leave. The portion of the employee’s vacation which is deemed to be sick leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee’s vacation credits.

Such leave shall be granted and verified on the same basis as would apply if an interruption of vacation were not involved.

Interruption of Vacation. An employee may interrupt vacation leave in order to commence sick or bereavement leave upon proper notification to and providing such verification as the Employer may require. Vacation days not used shall be reinstated.

For the days of hospitalization or confinement to be credited as sick leave, the unit member must submit a verifying statement from the attending physician within thirty (30) days of the event giving rise to the request.
