Fire Protection Engineer. Where there is a vacancy to be filled, the position will be filled in accordance with Article 15:07. However, all qualified Bargaining Unit Employees shall be eligible to compete for the position. Should it be deemed that there are no qualified candidates for such a vacancy, the Employer may conduct an expedited external competition in order to fill the position in an appropriate and reasonable manner. Any Employee hired directly into this position from outside the Fire Prevention Division or the Bargaining Unit may compete for the Division Chief of Fire Prevention subject to completing seven (7) years of service in the Prevention Division as of the effective date of the new Promotion List for the Division Chief of Fire Prevention. Any such Employee shall accumulate seniority credits for such promotional competition after completing seven (7) years of service in the Fire Prevention Division. The hours of work shall be in accordance with Article 5:03. This position shall be in the Fire Prevention Division and there will be no requirement for the Employer to assign temporary acting assignments for this position.
