ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. An Employee who would otherwise have been at work shall be allowed up to three (3) days’ leave with pay in the event of the death of a member of immediate family and such leave will not be charged against the Employee’s attendance credits. For the purpose of this section, “immediate family”, shall include the Employee’s spouse, common-law spouse, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, xxxxxx parents, legal guardians, grandchildren and the grandparents of the Employee and spouse or any relative with whom the Employee lives. Necessary travelling time in addition to the three (3) days may be granted at the discretion of the Police Chief. It is the responsibility of the Employee to request this leave from supervisor. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to obtain the decision of the Police Chief, or designate, as applicable, and for advising the Employee of the decision made.

ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the case of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the Company will pay the employee at his regular hourly rate for any of the five (5) successive calendar days which the employee would otherwise have worked. Immediate family shall be deemed to mean wife, children, mother, father, brother, sister. In the case of a death of grandfather, grandmother, mother-in-law and father-in-law, the Company will pay the employee at his regular hourly rate for any of the two (2) successive calendar days, which the employee would otherwise have worked.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. When death occurs to a member of an employee’s immediatefamily, the employee will be granted leave to attend the funeral and shall be paid eight (8) hours at his regular straight time rate (pieceworkersshall be paid eight (8) hours at the general labour’s hourly rate plus eight (8) percent) for time lost up to a maximum of five (5) consecutive days. When death occurs to a member of an employee’s family other than the immediate family, leave will be granted under the same conditions,to a maximumof three (3) days. One day must be the day of the funeral and pay will only be granted for the regular scheduled work days lost during this period. Any claim for bereavement pay must be submitted to the Company by the employee, accompanied,if requested,by written verificationfrom an acceptableauthority. Such verification shall designate the employee’s relationship to the deceased. For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as husband, wife, child, stepchild, and adopted child. Family other than immediate family is defined as father, father-in-law, stepfather, mother, mother-in-law, stepmother, xxxxxx parent, grandparent, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law,stepsister, and xxxxxxxxxx. If the employee is on annual vacation when bereavement leave is grantedfollowing the death of a member of the employee’s immediatefamily as defined in clause the vacation will be interrupted to allow bereavement leave. The balance of the vacation period shall be resumed immediatelyfollowing the bereavement leave. ARTICLE Piecework
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the case of the demise of a member of the immediate family, Permanent and Probationary Employees shall be permitted a leave of absence with pay for three (3) consecutive working days which shall be taken immediately prior to, during or following the day of the funeral. Immediate family shall mean: father, step-father, mother, stepmother, wife, husband, bona fide common-law spouse, brother, sister, son, daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparentsor grandchildren. Bereavement leave of absence for the demise of members of the immediate family shall not be deductedfrom the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. Inthe case of the demise of a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a son-in-law or a daughter-in- law, Permanentand ProbationaryEmployeesshall be permitted a leave of absence with pay for up to three (3) consecutiveworking days which shall be taken immediatelyprior to, during or following the day of the funeral. The first two (2) working days of any bereavement leave of absence for the demise of a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a son-in- law or a daughter-in-law shall not be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. However, the third working day, if any, of any bereavementleave of absence for the demise of a brother-in-law,a sister-in-law, a son-in-law or a daughter-in-law shall be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. An employee may elect to defer one day of bereavement leave to be used for attendance at the actual interment.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. An employee will be allowed up to four (4) consecutive days leave from work with pay, including the day after the funeral or the memorial service in case of cremation in the event of the death of his father, mother, sister, brother, wife, husband, son, daughter, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and also stepmother and stepfather where such person has participated as a parent in the raising of the employee. Such leave shall be for the purpose of attending the mourning and the funeral. Only the portion of four (4)working days that would otherwise have been time lost from work will be paid. In the event of the death of such employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or spouse of a parent who is not a stepparent, this employee may obtain a four (4)consecutive days leave of absence, of which he shall be paid for one (1) of the four (4) days at his regular hourly rate. Article HOURS OF WORK The regular work week will consist of forty (40) hours to be worked in five (5) days of eight (8) hours each day. This shall not be construed as a guarantee of daily or weekly hours.

The shall be in accordance with the provisions of The Employment Standards Act. A female employee returning from a under section shall be assigned to her former classification and be paid at the step in the salary range that she had attained when the was granted.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. When death occurs in a seniority employee's immediate family, i.e. husband, wife, child, parent, brother, sister, mother or father of his or her current husband or wife, the employee, on request, will be excused for a period not to exceed three ( 3 ) scheduled work days, or such fewer days as the employee may be absent, immediately following the date of death. When death occurs to the grandparent or grandchild of a seniority employee, the employee will be granted a bereavement leave of one day on the day of the funeral. Pay shall be at the employee's base rate of pay, exclusive of any premiums for the number of regular straight time hours that the employee was scheduled to work during such day. Not withstanding anything contained herein no employee shall receive pay for any day upon which such employee would not otherwise have worked. The employee's Supervisor must be notified as soon as possible.

ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Employees will be entitled to five (5) days bereavement leave at the standard rate of pay to attend the funeral of or grieve the loss of a mother, father, partner, child or step-child. Employees will be entitled to three (3) days bereavement leave at the standard rate of pay to attend the funeral of or grieve the loss of sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, step-mother, step-father, step-brother, step-sister, and xxxxxx’s grandparents. One (1) additional day shall be granted to attend a funeral out-of-province as described above, and two (2) additional days shall be granted to attend a funeral in another continent as described above. Management shall grant a maximum of one (1) day for combined bereavement travel leave at the standard rate of pay to employees attending the funeral of aunt, uncle, niece or nephew and xxxxxx’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the case of death of an employee's spouse, parents, (step) children, (step) mother, (step) father, an employee with seniority will be granted up to four (4) consecutive days off work with pay providing such days off are regular working days and providing the employee attends the funeral and/or is involved in making funeral arrangements. In the case of death of an employee's brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or grandchildren, an employee with seniority will be granted up to three (3) consecutive days off work with pay providing such days off are regular working days and providing the employee attends the funeral and/or is involved in making funeral arrangements. In case of death of an employee's grandparent, brother-in-law, or sister-in- law of a seniority employee, such employee shall be granted one (1) day off with pay provided such day is a regular working day and provided the employee attends the funeral and/or is involved in making funeral arrangements.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Bereavement Leave shall be granted to a Member, upon written request on the appropriate form, without loss of salary or deduction from the Sick Leave Credit Account in accordance with this article. For absence occasioned by the death of a son, daughter, mother, father of the Member or the Member’s leave shall be granted for a period of five consecutive working days if requested. For absence occasioned by the death of a sister or brother of the Member or the Member’s leave shall be granted for a period of three consecutive working days if requested. For absence occasioned by the death of those not covered under or leave may be granted upon recommendation of the and subject to the approval of the Director of Education.
