Basic Work Period. 6.1. A Nurse required to work in excess of eighty (80) hours during said two (2) week period or in excess of eight (8) hours in any workday shall be paid at one and one‐half (1‐1/2) times the Nurse’s regular rate of pay for all excess time so worked. Basic Work Period. Departmental management shall establish the basic work period and hours best suited to meet the needs of the department and provide service to the community. Pursuant to the FLSA’s 7k exemption, established under 29 USC’s 207(k), the basic work period for employees assigned to twelve-hour shifts will be fourteen (14) consecutive days, commencing on a Tuesday at 12 o’clock midnight and ending two weeks later on a Monday at 11:59 PM. Work hours shall include all time an employee is required to be on duty or on the Employer's premises, or at a prescribed workplace, including court attendance and depositions, provided time spent in attendance at educational courses, meetings, or seminars shall not be considered work hours unless said educational time is mandated by the Chief of PoliceChief of Police.
