New Sick Leave procedures In advance of its circulation the Office had already put into practice many of the directions contained in the Department of Finance Circular Paragraphs 1.4 and 4.10 To be fully implemented by end of 2010. 9/2010. In line with the circular the Office is in the process of updating its existing sick leave procedures. By implementing the provisions of this circular it is anticipated that there will be an overall improvement in the levels of sick leave.
New Sick Leave. Effective April 1, 2024 a casual employee shall have 16 hours available on an annual basis for reasons of illness. This entitlement is in addition to those that may be legislated by any provincial or federal government.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave Use Sick leave will be charged in one-tenth (1/10th) of an hour increments and may be used for the following reasons:

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use Family Sick Leave for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family who requires the care and assistance of the employee. Up to eighty (80) hours per calendar year of the employee’s accumulated unused sick leave may be used for this purpose.

  • Annual Paid Sick Leave Eighteen (18) days sick leave per year shall be earned by all full-time employees at the rate of one and one-half days for every month or part thereof that an employee is employed in such year provided that no sick leave shall be earned in any calendar month during which the employee is employed for less than ten (10) days.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:
