Sick Leave definition

Sick Leave means the period of time an employee is absent from work with or without pay, by virtue of sickness, quarantine, or accident, or out-of-town medical/dental referrals for which compensation is not payable under the Worker's Compensation Act.
Sick Leave means a leave of absence with pay for a sickness suffered by an employee or their immediate family. Sick leave may also be used for maternity related disability, medical, dental and eye examination or treatment, care of or attendance to another relative for reasons herein at the agency's discretion, and attendance for death or funeral of an immediate family member, or the illness of another person at the agency's discretion.
Sick Leave means all necessary absence from duty because of illness, bodily injury, or exclusion from employment because of exposure to contagious disease.

Examples of Sick Leave in a sentence

  • In either instance where an Employee does not provide medical confirmation as requested, or otherwise declines to participate and/or cooperate in the administration of the Sick Leave Plan, access to compensation may be suspended or denied.

  • If at any time the District and the Federation agree that the Sick Leave Bank is not solvent, the joint committee will decide how any money remaining in the bank will be distributed.

  • NOTE: Registered Domestic Partners (RDP) are covered under the Sick Leave provisions of this Section.

  • Immediate family members for purposes of this section includes the following, whether related by blood or marriage: • Spouse/Registered Domestic Partner (RDP) • Child, Grandchild, Great-grandchild • Sibling • Parent, Grandparent, Great-grandparent • Aunt, Uncle, Xxxxx, Xxxxxx NOTE: Registered Domestic Partners are covered under the Sick Leave provisions of this Section.

  • Family sick leave shall be designated as Sick Leave and shall be deducted as outlined in Article 16.05.


More Definitions of Sick Leave

Sick Leave means absence from duty because of illness or injury. "Sick leave" also means absence from duty because of a serious health condition disability caused by pregnancy or childbirth which prevents the unit member from working. (See Section 9.4.1 for eligibility for additional leave.)
