Section D. Pay Status of Union Representatives Designated Representatives will be granted unpaid leave up to but not in excess of the employee’s scheduled work hours on the meeting day for actual travel, preparation time and attendance at Labor/Management Committee meetings. On a case-by-case basis, to resolve extensive travel issues, additional unpaid leave will be granted for employees whose travel, preparation time and attendance would exceed the employee’s scheduled work hours on the meeting day.

Section D. At the time of hire, individuals employed as School Community Partners will be required to demonstrate basic Reading and Writing skills by a method determined by the Employer. At the time of hire, School Community Partners must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent or enroll in GED or Adult Education courses and demonstrate progress toward attaining the diploma or GED in accordance with rules established by the Employer. Employees who fail to demonstrate progress may be subject to termination. Within two (2) years of employment, School Community Partners must pass the Reading Test required by Article 6, D, of the paraprofessional agreement and have a high school diploma or its equivalent in order to remain employed. An employee’s failure to meet the requirements will result in termination. Employees hired as School Community Partners must agree to work in the program until the expiration of the current agreement.

Section D. Determine the services, supplies, and equipment necessary to continue its operations and to determine all methods and means of distribution, disseminating, and/or selling its services, methods, schedules and standards of operation, the means, methods and processes of carrying on the work, the institution of new and/or improved methods of changes therein.
Section D. The parties recognize that after STEP 1 of the grievance procedure, additional time may be required by both parties to process the grievance. The parties may agree in writing to extend any of the time limits set forth in any steps of the grievance procedure.

Principals have the option of not assigning assistant coaches to an AAPE class based on constraints of the total educational program and availability of personnel. Head coaches may request not being assigned to an AAPE class. This request must be approved by the principal. Coaches who teach five (5) classes (full time teachers) and who coach on their preparation hour will receive their stipend plus an additional fifty percent (50%) of that stipend, as determined by the extra factor schedule. High school coaches who teach “A” hour as part of their five (5) class teaching schedule, will receive their stipend plus an additional fifty percent (50%) of that stipend, as determined by the extra factor schedule. In no instance may an individual receive more than one 50% stipend per season.
