Common use of Immediate Family Member Clause in Contracts

Immediate Family Member. At the time of death of an immediate family member, an employee will be granted bereavement leave hours equal to up to three (3) days provided paid sick leave or other paid leave is accumulated to the credit of the employee and is so charged. The employee will be salary deleted if employee has no available time to use. Members of the immediate family are defined as spouse, domestic partner, civil union partner, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, brother or sister, parent-in-law, or other relative or significant other living in the employee’s household. The definition of “parent” and “child” is as defined by the Hospital’s FMLA policy. At the time of death of a significant other who is not living in the employee’s household, such request shall not be unreasonably denied.
