Extended Sick Leave Without Pay. At the termination of his accumulated sick leave, an employee who cannot perform scheduled duties because of extended illness or injury shall, upon written request, be placed on an extended sick leave of absence without pay up to the end of the current school year in which the request is made. The employee must give three (3) weeks’ notice to the District, in writing, prior to returning. An employee may return to work earlier than three (3) weeks if mutually acceptable between the employee and the District. A second extended sick leave of absence without pay shall, upon written request, be granted up to the end of the current school year in which the request is made. Upon granting the request, an employee may return to work before the end of the year if mutually acceptable between the employee and the District. If not mutually acceptable, and if the employee desires to return to work prior to the end of the school year, the District will make every reasonable effort to employ that employee as a substitute with substitute benefits. A third extended sick leave request in any three (3) year period shall be at the District's discretion. An employee on extended leave as a result of a state recognized on-the-job injury, shall be allowed to extend such leave to cover a total leave of at least three (3) years. An employee on any extended sick leave will hold his/her place on the salary schedule, and will be eligible for the scheduled increment the following year provided he/she has completed one- half (1/2) or more of the contractual year in which he/she was placed on extended sick leave of absence. Please refer to the Staff Handbook for information on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA).
Extended Sick Leave Without Pay. Employees shall be granted extended sick leave of absence without pay of up to six (6) months with up to one (1) year of service, and twelve (12) months if over one (1) year of service, beyond the paid sick leave entitlement provided in Article 11.01, during periods of lengthy illness or disability as certified by a medical doctor. During that period of leave beyond the paid sick leave entitlement, seniority will be retained.

  • Sick Leave Without Pay Sick leave without pay shall be granted to an employee who does not qualify for sick leave with pay, or who is unable to return to work at the termination of the period for which sick leave with pay is granted.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Maternity Leave Without Pay (a) An employee who becomes pregnant shall, upon request, be granted maternity leave without pay for a period beginning before, on or after the termination date of pregnancy and ending not later than eighteen (18) weeks after the termination date of pregnancy.

  • Leave of Absence Without Pay A permanent employee may be granted unpaid leave either with the right to return or without the right to return. Exception: No paid leave of any kind will be granted an employee who is on suspension as discipline.

  • Military Leave Without Pay An employee in the State service shall be entitled to a military leave of absence without pay during a period of service with the armed forces of the United States. He/she shall, upon honorable discharge from such service, be returned to a position in the same class as his/her last held position, at the salary rate prevailing for such class, without loss of seniority or employment rights. Employees shall make application for reinstatement within ninety (90) days and shall report for duty within six (6) months following separation from active duty. Failure to comply may terminate military leave. If it is established that he/she is not physically qualified to perform the duties of his/her former position by reason of such service, he/she shall be reinstated in other work that he/she is able to perform at the nearest appropriate level of pay of his/her former class. An employee voluntarily or involuntarily seeking military leave without pay to attend service school shall be entitled to such leave during a period of active duty training. Military leaves of absence without pay shall be granted in compliance with the Veterans' Reemployment Rights Law, Title 38 USC Chapter 43. However, such reduction in salary will not be made for an FLSA- exempt employee to testify on temporary military leave except for full workweek increments where such leave causes an absence of one (1) or more full workweeks.
