Education Leave of Absence. In order to enhance the professional development of Professional and Administrative Employees, an educational leave of absence for up to one (1) year may be granted to Professional and Administrative Union members for the purpose of professional development benefiting the University, provided:
Education Leave of Absence. (a) Participation in pertinent educational programs is encouraged by the Employer. Subject to adequate staffing levels being maintained, and upon the request of an employee, the Employer may grant leave, with or without pay, to attend conferences, workshops, seminars or professional meetings covering job-related topics. If the educational event occurs on an employee's day off, the employer may grant equivalent time off with pay. Tuition costs, registration fees, or expenses incurred may be paid by the Employer.
Education Leave of Absence. Upon written application to the Company, an employee with one (1) or more years of seniority, wishing to further their education by full-time attendance at a recognized college, university, trade or technical school, may be granted a leave of absence for up to one (1) year under the following conditions: Before receiving the leave, or an extension, the employee shall provide the Company with satisfactory evidence they have been accepted as a student by the recognized institutions above. On expiry of each term or semester, the employee shall provide the Company with proof of attendance and completion. Leave may be extended for additional periods not to exceed one (1) each year. The student’s course of instruction must be related to their employment opportunities with the Company and seniority shall accumulate during the leave. Full-time attendance at primary or high school shall be regarded as meeting this provision. Health care benefits may continue if the employee elected to pay for benefits as provided in the plan. Employees’ positions will be temporarily posted per the provisions of Article 14.11(a). Employees returning from such leave shall supply the Company two (2) weeks notice of their availability and desire to return to work, with seniority applying only in the Bargaining Unit. Such employee shall return to their former group if available, or if no longer available, he/she will displace the lowest seniority employee in the Bargaining Unit.
Education Leave of Absence. The Employer agrees to grant Leave of Absence with pay to any employee taking a course of study which requires absence from employment with the Employer, provided such course relates to the Municipal duties of such employee and has been approved by the Department Head.
Education Leave of Absence. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualification, the Hospital will pay the tuition cost associated with such courses. If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence without loss of earnings and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade her employment qualification.

Employees with a minimum of the equivalent of three (3) years continuous employment may apply for a health-care related educational leave of absence without pay for an academic year and summer session, or any segment of the educational program within that time. Such requests will not be unreasonably denied.

Education Leave of Absence. Governmental-Sponsored Program Leave of Absence. Leave of absence may be granted for a maximum period of two (2) years for purpose of education or training which, in the Employer's opinion, would be a benefit to the Employer. Renewal or extension beyond the two-year period shall not be allowed.
