Carer’s Leave. Xxxxx’s leave is paid or unpaid leave taken to provide care and support to a member of immediate family or household because of: • personal illness or injury of the member; or • an unexpected emergency affecting the member. Paid carer’s leave is deducted from employees accrued sick leave. However the maximum amount of paid carer’s leave a full time employee is entitled to take in any 12 month period prior to taking the leave is 10 days. Employees (including casual employees) are entitled to a period of up to 2 days unpaid carer’s leave per occasion. The unpaid leave of up to 2 days is to be taken as a single unbroken period, unless otherwise agreed between you and the Company. Weekly employees are not entitled to take unpaid carer’s leave if they are able to take paid xxxxx’s leave. To be entitled to carer’s leave (either paid or unpaid) employees must advise the Company as soon as reasonably practical of their inability to attend work in order to provide care and support. Whenever possible they should advise the Company at least 2 hours prior to the commencement of their shift and indicate the expected duration of their absence.
