Statutory certification means certification made by the Register on behalf of the Flag State Administrations when and to the extent that the Register has been authorised to do so by the respective Flag State.Statutory certification and services include the assessment of vessels registered by the Flag State and/or ship management companies to determine whether such ships/companies comply with the applicable requirements of international conventions, codes and national legislation, and the issuance of, or assistance in the issuance of, the appropriate certificates and documents.Statutory certification includes, but is not limited to, certification, survey, and issuance of statutory certificates on behalf of the Flag State.In cases where the Register acts on behalf of Flag State Administrations, the Register shall follow guidance issued by IMO (Resolutions, Circulars, etc.) or by IACS through Unified Interpretations (UI), unless otherwise directed by the Flag State.
