CLOSED CAMPUS. To preserve the academic environment and school security, archdiocesan and parish schools are designated as “closed campuses.” No person may enter the campus unless authorized by the school administration. Visitors must present themselves at the school office if they are seeking information or have business to conduct with the school, and must wear a Visitor’s Pass while on campus. Parent Visitation on Campus Parents have the primary responsibility for the education of their children. The school supports, enhances, and complements this role. Keeping this in mind, parents are encouraged to take an active role volunteering on campus. Opportunities for involvement include yard duty, assisting in the library, computer lab, or classroom, working with special projects or programs, and working with the hot lunch program. All parents who volunteer for these duties must be Xxxxxx trained and fingerprinted. A parent who does not have legal custody of his/her child, but has visitation rights may visit on campus, subject to the above guidelines and the visitation guidelines, unless the school has received a legal order prohibiting such a visit. All parents visiting or volunteering on campus must sign in at the front office and wear a visitor’s badge while on campus. *Please do not meet your child at the lunch area or playground during school hours unless you have signed in as a visitor.

All medications that you have to take during the school day need to be checked into the office. No Over-the-Counter drugs are allowed on school grounds, school functions, or off-campus school events.

CLOSED CAMPUS. King’s Way is a closed campus. Students who need to leave the school grounds for any reason, including illness, must check out in the school office. Leaving campus requires parent permission in advance of leaving. Those who fail to check out may be considered truant. LUNCH Students may either bring lunches from home or purchase hot and cold food items through our food service in the cafeteria. Purchases in the cafeteria may be pre-paid through the business office or students may pay by cash. Lunch off campus is only permissible when accompanied by a parent, teacher or other adult with parental approval. Students are expected to be in the location they are supposed to be at during the school day, including during their lunch period. CONFERENCES Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled in the fall. Additional conferences may be scheduled at the request of parents or teachers. All parents are encouraged to attend conferences. ASSIGNMENTS WHEN ABSENT Students who are absent should consult NetClassroom, email teachers, or contact classmates for class and homework assignments. Teachers’ email addresses are available on our web site: xxx.xxxx.xxx (under the ‘Schools’ tab choose ‘Middle School’ and then ’Faculty & Staff’). Middle School parents may contact the office by 10:00 a.m. to request homework that may be picked up at the end of the school day in the Middle School office. MAKE-UP WORK If a student is ill (or for some other reason is away from school on an excused absence), the general guideline is to allow a student the same number of days as the days absent to do the make-up work while simultaneously keeping up with the current daily work. Specific arrangements are to be made with the teacher. This timeline does not usually apply to long-term, pre-set assignments such as term papers. PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCES For pre-arranged absences, homework requests require advance notification with the understanding that for planning purposes some assignments may be assigned after the student returns to school or the student may be given alternative assignments. Pre-arranged absences during finals are strongly discouraged. (Please refer to General Attendance Procedures and Excused Absences.) CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES Cell phones, digital cameras, personal music players and other electronic devices are to be POWERED OFF while a student is at school. A STUDENT LEAVING CAMPUS WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION/SIGNING OUT WILL BE ISSUED A DETENTION OR SUSPENSION, AND MAY ALSO LOSE ON-CAMPUS DRIVING PRIVILEGES.
CLOSED CAMPUS. The Corning School District operates under a Closed Campus policy. This policy affects both the students of the school and visitors on the campus upon their arrival at school. Students are required to stay on campus from their arrival until dismissal at the end of the regular school day unless given permission to leave the campus by a school official. Students must sign out in the office upon their departure. Students leaving campus for any reason without being approved by the principal or designee will be subject to disciplinary action. Any person not currently enrolled in the Corning School District nor employed by the district must obtain permission from the principal/designee's office before visiting any student or teacher on the campus during school hours. Students who live close enough to walk home for lunch or whose parents pick them up for lunch may do so, however, he/she must check out in the office before leaving. Permission forms for walking home daily for lunch are available in the respective principal’s office and must be approved in advance. In no instance will a student be allowed to leave in their personal vehicle or with other students or their parents.
