PROCEDURES FOR TESTING. A. Demand for Testing The Sheriff’s Office may require departmental personnel to submit to a test for illegal drugs, prescription drugs, steroids, or alcohol if the test is being required on a reasonable basis.
PROCEDURES FOR TESTING. All Department members initiating testing action on the basis of reasonable suspicion will be required to detail in writing the specific facts, symptoms or observations which formed the basis for their conclusion that reasonable suspicion existed to warrant testing of the member. The initial report will be reviewed by the Fire Chief or chief officer on call who shall determine whether the request for testing is appropriate, and if so, shall order that the test be performed. The results of the test shall be provided by the laboratory only to the Fire Chief or chief officer on call, who shall provide a copy to the member and the Fire Commission.
