Prior Police Service. Any service with a public or private employer in a full-time, part-time, or auxiliary (unpaid) position which: (1) required peace officer certification, and (2) included the power to effect physical arrests of the public, and (3) included the authority to enforce state and/or local laws.

Prior Police Service. The Parties agree that notwithstanding the provisions of Article members employed on the date of ratification who can provide an employment history of previous police service outside Canada that is satisfactory to the Board shall be credited with such additional service along with the service currently provided to the Board for determining additional vacation entitlement: The Board shall, upon ratification, provide such additional vacation entitlement to employees who so request to a maximum of one (1) week vacation in each year of the collective agreement until such time that the employee has reached their new vacation entitlement. (i.e. if a member is entitled to an additional weeks of vacation as a result of recognition of prior police service they shall receive one (1) additional week of vacation in each of the next two (2) years). To be eligible for such vacation credit, the employee must submit a request for such recognition within sixty (60) days following ratification of this agreement. The Parties further agree that any additional weeks of vacation that may be generated by this entitlement that cannot be scheduled during the current calendar year due to operational requirements shall be carried over into the next year and shall not be eligible for cash payout.
