Loss of Personal Effects. An employee who suffers loss of clothes or personal effects will be compensated in accordance with Order-in-Council Where an employee is assigned to duty aboard a ship and suffers loss of clothing or personal effects (those which can reasonably be expected to accompany the employee aboard the ship) because of a marine accident or disaster, the employee shall be reimbursed the value of those articles up to a maximum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) based on replacement cost less the usual rate of depreciation. An employee or the employee’s estate making a claim under this Article shall submit to the Employer reasonable proof of such loss, and shall submit a signed affidavit listing the individual items and values claimed.

Loss of Personal Effects. The Shipowner will be responsible for insuring against loss or damage of personal effects whilst on its vessels, up to a maximum of $3,000.00. Officers will still be responsible for insuring against any loss or damage of personal effects while travelling to and from the vessel. The Shipowner will pay compensation for proven loss up to the maximum of $3,000.00 if the Officer suffers loss of, or damage to, his or her personal effects as a result of wreck, loss, stranding or abandonment of the vessel or as a result of fire, flood or collision, excluding any loss arising from the Officer’s own fault or through misappropriation. Payment for compensation for loss of effects is conditional upon the submission by the Officer to the Shipowner/Company of a written declaration countersigned by the Master, listing and attributing reasonable values to the effects lost. The definition of effects includes clothes, documents, navigation and other technical instruments and tools necessary to the trade of the Officer but does not include cash, jewellery, electronic equipment, record media and photographic equipment.
Loss of Personal Effects. At engagement, Employees who are required to use personal equipment/tools in the fulfillment of their duties shall provide a detailed list of such items together with values (supported by receipts) and have that list signed by the Vessel’s Master which will be retained by Sunlover Cruises. It is the responsibility of the Employee to ensure that the list remains updated. Should Employees who work on the vessels sustain loss or damage to their personal effects, or other equipment by fire, foundering, shipwreck, collision, explosion, stranding or ingress of oil or water during or in the course of their employment, the Employer will compensate the Employee concerned for such loss or damage by a cash payment equivalent to the value of the effects or other equipment lost or damaged but any payment shall not exceed $5,000.
