Civic Duty definition

Civic Duty. A teacher who has been elected or appointed to any local civic or local public office shall be granted upon request, not more than three (3) days leave of absence per year to serve in such public or civic office and shall receive full pay for such day or days less the amount earned for such leave. (87) Any requirements beyond the above days shall be granted or denied by each case's merit. Any civic or public office beyond the local level shall likewise be handled by the administration and the Board of Education as the need arises.

Examples of Civic Duty in a sentence

  • Upon completion of jury service and as a condition to receiving this Civic Duty Pay, the employee shall submit to the City clear proof of the days served and the amounts the employee was paid by the court.

  • All employees in and for the North Kitsap School District shall receive Civic Duty Leave, which shall include jury duty and fulfilling military obligations in accordance with Federal and State regulations.

  • During the period of Civic Duty Leave, employees are expected to report either to their assigned work at the District or to the court or military during working hours.

  • Employees are not eligible for Civic Duty Leave when the employee is a party to the litigation or an expert witness.

  • If an employee is serving as a juror for an extended period, and has exhausted Civic Duty Pay, the employee will be required to use other forms of paid leave, such as PTO, Compensatory Time, or Holiday Bank.

  • When an employee is under orders to report for jury duty, to act as a witness, or for military reservist training, the District will pay for up to ten working days of Civic Duty Pay per calendar year except as otherwise required by law.

  • However, if the employee has already used 40 hours of PTO time for the jury service and continuing to use PTO would cause the employee’s PTO balance to fall below 80 hours, the District will resume paying Civic Duty Pay.

  • It is the responsibility of the employees on Civic Duty Leave to advise their immediate supervisors of their jury duty schedule, which includes starting and ending on a daily basis.

  • Each employee will be eligible for this extended Civic Duty Pay no more than one time for the term of this agreement.

  • Civic duty service falling on a District holiday or employee’s regularly scheduled day off is not payable as Civic Duty Pay.

  • On duty means that a pharmacist is on the premises at the address of the permitted pharmacy and is available as needed.

  • Active duty means full-time duty status in the active, uniformed services of the United States, including without limitation members of The National Guard and Reserve on active duty orders under 10 U.S.C. §§ 1209 and 1210.

  • Active duty military means full-time duty status in the active uniformed service of the United States, including members of the National Guard and Reserve on active duty orders pursuant to 10 U.S.C. Section 1209 and 1211.

  • Covered Active Duty means (1) in the case of a member of a regular component of the Armed Forces, duty during the deployment of the member with the Armed Forces to a foreign country; and (2) in the case of a member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces, duty during the deployment of the member with the Armed Forces to a foreign country under a call or order to active duty (or notification of an impending call or order to active duty) in support of a contingency operation as defined by applicable law.

  • Accused Student means any student accused of violating this Student Code.

  • Violent felony means any offense that, if committed by an adult, would constitute a felony and:

  • Racketeering activity means to commit, to attempt to commit, to conspire to commit, or to solicit, coerce, or intimidate another person to commit:

  • Violent juvenile felony means any of the delinquent acts enumerated in subsection B or C of

  • Offense means a felony, gross misdemeanor, or crime of moral turpitude.

  • Intimidating, threatening, abusive, or harming conduct means, but is not limited to, conduct that does the following:

  • Criminal sexual activity means the commission of an act as defined in Section 886 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which is the act of sodomy; and

  • Student journalist means a student who gathers, writes, edits, photographs, records, video tapes, or prepares information for dissemination in student media.

  • Tour of Duty means the period of time, not exceeding the basic hours of work per day, which an employee is scheduled to work on any day, and of which she has been advised in advance.

  • Prohibited Activities has the meaning set forth in Paragraph 6.26.

  • Competitive Activities means any business activities in which the Company or any other member of the Company Group engage (or have committed plans to engage) during the Term of Employment, or, following termination of Employee’s employment hereunder, was engaged in business (or had committed plans to engage) at the time of such termination of employment.

  • Felony means that term as defined in section 1 of chapter I of the code of criminal procedure, 1927 PA 175, MCL 761.1.

  • Son or daughter on active duty or call to active duty status means the employee's biological, adopted, or foster child, stepchild, legal ward, or a child for whom the employee stood in loco parentis, who is on active duty or call to active duty status, and who is of any age.

  • Mobile crisis outreach team means a crisis intervention service for minors or families of minors experiencing behavioral health or psychiatric emergencies.

  • Misdemeanor means a violation of a penal law of this state or violation of a local ordinance substantially corresponding to a violation of a penal law of this state that is not a felony or a violation of an order, rule, or regulation of a state agency that is punishable by imprisonment or a fine that is not a civil fine, or both.

  • Moral turpitude means conduct that is wrong in itself even if no statute were to prohibit the conduct; and

  • Licensed person means an individual who is licensed or otherwise legally authorized to practice a professional service by a court, department, board, commission, or an agency of this state or another jurisdiction, any corporation or professional services corporation all of whose shareholders are licensed persons, any partnership all of whose partners are licensed persons, or any limited liability company all of whose members and managers are licensed persons.
