Uniform Program. The purpose of this uniform program is twofold: (1) to identify City employees who have direct contact with the public on a regular basis, and to enhance the image of City operations generally performed by City personnel in public view; and (2) to provide uniforms to those personnel who are required to perform duties that result in their clothing becoming excessively dirty or in duties that require identifying uniforms. Any uniforms and/or identifying patches, badges, etc., purchased by the City for an employee, must be returned to the City when an employee terminates City employment. To make the program effective, all eligible employees shall be required, as a condition of their employment, to participate in accordance with this policy. All personnel required under the program to wear uniforms must comply with appropriate departmental rules and regulations; however, in no event shall departmental rules and regulations supersede instructions contained in this Agreement.

Uniform Program. The Company and the Union recognize the importance of our employees presenting a professional image to our customers and the general public. In order to assure consistency in dress and present a professional image, the Company and the Union agree to the following uniform policy. The Company will provide an annual credit of $175 for the purchase of approved garments through the Company authorized vendor to R employees in those classifications which the Company deems appropriate. New hires in those classifications may receive additional uniform garments or a higher initial credit. The color, style, and material blend of employee work clothing will be determined by the Company. Employees will be required to wear uniform garments that are, in the Company’s judgment, properly maintained and presentable. The wearing of uniforms will be mandatory during all work hours. Regular and all appropriate maintenance of an employee’s uniform is the responsibility of the employee. D A pin, not to exceed 1-1/2 inches in diameter designating affiliation with the CWA and not derogatory of the Company or its personnel, may be worn with the uniform. This pin may be worn only on the uniform shirt. This pin will not cover the Company logo The Company shall have the unilateral right to modify, amend, or cease the uniform program at any time. The Company agrees to provide 30 days written notice in the event the Company decides to cease the uniform program.

The Company may designate those classifications that will be covered by the uniform program. The Company will determine color, style, and material blend of clothing. The Company logo will be required on the shirts, hats and jackets. Employees new to the program will be provided an initial vendor credit of $400.00 to purchase uniforms from the Official Uniform Program catalog. In the years following the initial uniform purchase an annual credit of $164.00 will be provided to program participants for replacement garments. Employees will receive a vendor cost adjustment as necessary. Clothing needing replacement as a result of work related damage will be the responsibility of the Company. For all employees in the program, any credits must be used during the year in which they are provided. Employees will be responsible for the full Company cost of replacing uniform garments should they be lost, stolen, or damaged through neglect. Additional uniform items may be purchased from the Official Uniform Program catalog at catalog prices at the employee’s expense. Employees will be required to wear the approved uniforms while on Company business. Individual exceptions to the Company’s uniform policy may be allowed in unusual circumstances with management approval. The Company shall provide shorts as an option for employee selection as designated by job title. Both the Company and the Union recognize that Company safety rules and obligations will not be lessened in any degree to accommodate employees wearing of the shorts. Regular and all appropriate maintenance of an employee’s Company clothing is the responsibility of the employee. Company uniforms that have been in the care of an employee who is terminating from the Company must be returned on the employee’s last working day. Should the employees fail to do so, they will be responsible for the full cost of the uniforms issued to them. In order to assure consistency in dress and present a professional image, the Company and the Union agree to the following uniform policy. • The Utility Operations employees will be provided an initial vendor credit of $503.88 to purchase uniforms from an approved catalog. • The initial allowance must purchase a minimum wardrobe of 6 shirts, 5 pants, and 1 outer wear with the balance of the allowance to be spent at the employees’ discretion. • All new employees to Utility Operations will receive the initial allowance of $503.88 within 30 days of employment. • An annual credit of $244.10 will be provided in January of each year for the life of the contract. • Each employee may receive a vendor cost adjustment credit to their allowance if necessary. • Employees required by the Company to wear protective footwear will be provided a $125.00 per year footwear allowance through the life of this agreement. Uniform Program. The purpose of the City Uniform Program is to maximize safe working conditions, reflect good appearance and to provide ease of recognition, and/or identification for employees by the public. All City issued uniforms and all other related dressing accessories are to be kept well maintained and may not be used for recreation or off duty purposes. No employee shall affix, adorn or otherwise alter any department provided uniform by adding patches, emblems, pins, etc., unless such items and/or alterations are legally protected as Union rights, or issued, authorized, or provided by the department. Employees are prohibited from wearing their City issued shirts or uniforms at bars, night clubs or any other places that would bring discredit to the City. In exercising legally protected Union rights, the Union acknowledges that the City has a legitimate business interest in maintaining a professional image for its public employees, and a cornerstone of this image is its requirement that all employees dress in professional attire and project a positive image to the public. Before implementation of the Uniform Program, the Union and the City shall form a committee to include the City Manager and two (2) Union members to identify appropriate uniform options. Upon consensus within the committee, the committee shall present the proposed uniforms to the membership for a final vote of approval. Should the members reject the proposed uniforms the committee shall reconvene to explore alternative uniforms. Employees are liable for issued uniform items that have been lost, stolen or damaged beyond economic repair, except if the damag e is due to the nature of the job. If a uniform has been damaged as a result of the nature of the job or extenuating circumstances, employees are required to report and request a replacement form their direct supervisors.
