STUDENT COUNCIL. The Montefiore School of Nursing Student Council (MSON Student Council) is the student government organization for the Montefiore School of Nursing. The MSON Student Council consists of individuals elected by each nursing class to handle matters as they pertain to the entire School of Nursing. The organization’s mission is to create a positive and professional atmosphere for students through sponsoring various activities within MSON as well as representing MSON in the community through service projects. The Student Council meets monthly. The purposes of Student Council are:

STUDENT COUNCIL. Each fall the 6th, 7th, and 8th grad students elect students to serve as representatives on the CKS Student Council. To be eligible to run for Student Council, a student must meet the following standards: • The student must have demonstrated him/herself to be of good character, honest, reliable and concerned for the well- being of CKS; • The student must have demonstrated positive leadership by having no more than 1 detention during the previous semester. • The student must complete the application process in a timely manner for nomination. If elected, to remain active in the Student Council a representative must have and maintain a grade average no lower than “C” in each subject, have earned no and may earn no more than 1 detention during the current semester. The Student Council meets during lunchtime twice a month.
STUDENT COUNCIL. Students interested in Student Council should contact the Student Council advisor for more information. Each March, the Student Council will hold school-wide elections for the council offices. The following student offices are eligible: President - Senior (with at least one year of Student Council experience) Vice President - Senior or Junior (with at least one year of Student Council Experience) Sec.-Treasurer - Seniors or Juniors or Sophomores Eighth Grade, Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will vote. Students wanting to run for office need to find a campaign manager and must get an official petition from the principal’s office. Campaign speeches will be given by the campaign manager and the candidate. All campaign signs and speeches must be approved by the principal. For more information, ask your student council representative. The school council consists of 14 students. The freshmen have two representatives each, the sophomores three, the juniors four and the seniors five representatives. The total of 14 includes officers. The primary function of the student council is the promotion of the high school students through activities designed to develop leadership qualities. The council acts as the communicative arm between the students and the administration/school board.
STUDENT COUNCIL. The governing student organization in the Pine Plains Central Schools is the Student Council. This is an organization that monitors, controls and advises all extra-curricular activities. In addition to these, this organization has and can be, a voice for the students covering most aspects of student life in the Stissing Mountain Middle/High School. STUDENT COUNCIL. The middle school student government will consist of 18 members, six from each grade level. The eighth grade and seventh grade members will be elected in the spring by the respective student class bodies. The sixth grade student government members will be elected in the fall by the sixth grade class body. Meetings will be held on the first Friday of each month. National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx The National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx recognizes students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Membership is an honor bestowed on a student at the beginning of their sophomore year. Candidates for membership must be pursuing the honor graduate curriculum and must have a cumulative average of 90.00 or above. Those who qualify may petition the society for membership. At that time they will be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, and character. Once these evaluations are complete, students who qualify will be given a NHS Handbook and will be inducted as active members. Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Any student enrolled or has been enrolled in a family and consumer science classis eligible for membership in the FCCLA chapter provided they pay their state and national dues. Active members shall be eligible to hold office, make motions, and vote. They will also be expected to participate in one fundraiser to help defray the cost of the club’s activities and projects. Math/Science Club The math and science club is designed to facilitate growth in students with above average capabilities in math and science. A student must have an 85 average in the math and/or science course(s) from the previous year, as well as an overall 80 or above average in all subjects from the previous year. A student may join the math/science club at the beginning of the school year only. Dues are $5.00 for the year. FFA Organization Students have the opportunity at BHS to be a part of an exciting organization that provides valuable educational experiences to its members. STUDENT COUNCIL. The student council provides for student activities, serves as a training experience for both leaders and followers, promotes the common good, gives students a share of the management of the school, develops high ideals of personal conduct, acts as a clearinghouse for student activities, seeks to interest students in school affairs and helps solve problems that may arise. Members of the council represent grades 7-12 and have direct access to the school administration.  The president is elected at a student body election held in the spring. He/she must have one year of experience in the student council and one year in an executive position.  Representatives from each class and organization are elected at the time of the annual class election in the fall.  Activities of the student council are controlled by the constitution.  Student council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.  Student council minutes will be posted on the bulletin board after each meeting.
