Sick Leave for Family Purpose. The granting of up to 1/2 day of sick leave with pay shall be authorized when there is illness or an emergency situation, involving a member of the employee's immediate family residing in the same abode or the employee's legal dependents, which requires the employee's attendance. Any additional time requested by the employee for immediate family emergency purposes must be authorized by their supervisor with concurrence by the Berlin Water Works Superintendent as per the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993.

Sick Leave for Family Purpose. The granting of sick leave with pay during the fiscal year from the accumulated sick leave referred to above may be authorized when there is serious illness or an emergency situation involving a member of the employee's immediate family. Notice to the department head shall be sufficient for the first ½ day; anything longer requires City Manager approval. Anything longer than one day requires medical documentation. Whenever possible, medical appointments will be scheduled on off-duty hours or at a time to best accommodate departmental needs.The following flow chart describes how this benefit is administered.

  • Unpaid Leave for Family Purpose a. An employee may elect, with the consent of the employer, to take unpaid leave for the purpose of providing care and support to a member of a class of person set out in sub-paragraph (ii) or paragraph (c) of sub-clause (1) who is ill.

  • Leave for Family Illness In the case of illness of a member of an employee’s immediate family, meaning spouse, son, daughter, father, mother, or person to whom the employee is legal guardian when no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill person, the employee may be granted, after notifying her immediate management supervisor, leave with pay up to five (5) working days per fiscal year, for the purpose of making such arrangements as are necessary to permit the employee’s return to work. The immediate management supervisor may require proof of the need for such leave as she considers necessary.

  • Use of Vacation Leave for Sick Leave Purposes The Employer may allow an employee who has used all of his or her sick leave to use vacation leave for sick leave purposes as provided in Article 12.2 A. An employee who has used all of his or her sick leave may use vacation leave for sick leave purposes as provided in Article 12.2 B – H.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave Plan Each employee shall accumulate sick leave with pay entitlement at the rate of one-half work day for each full bi-weekly pay period on paid status up to a maximum accumulation of 155 days of unused sick leave with pay entitlement.
