LUNCH AND BREAK TIMES. All paraprofessionals who work at least five (5) hours per day will have a continuous uninterrupted unpaid lunch period of at least thirty (30) minutes and no longer than 45 minutes per day. They shall also receive a fifteen- (15) minute relief period in the morning and in the afternoon. An employee must be scheduled for a minimum of five (5) hours of work within a given work day before they can be required to take an unpaid lunch period. Additionally it is understood that all lunch periods shall be duty free. If they are not duty free, then they shall be paid lunch periods. SECTION 4 - LEAVES

They shall also receive one (1) fifteen- (15) minute relief period during the first half of their shift and one (1) fifteen (15) minute relief period during the second half of their shift. An employee must be scheduled for a minimum of five (5) hours of work within a given work day before they can be required to take an unpaid lunch period.   • Lunch Breaks The lunch break will consist of a one-half hour (or one hour where scheduled) unpaid break taken mid-way during regular work day. In the event that an employee is required to work during his regular lunch period he shall be allowed a one-half hour lunch period between the hours of ll:30 a.m. and l:00 p.m., otherwise he shall be paid double time for working through said lunch period.

If extended overtime is required, additional coffee breaks shall be permitted during such overtime after each two (2) hours following the conclusion of each overtime meal break. However, for a compressed work week schedule, employees shall be permitted a break of fifteen (15) minutes in the first half and fifteen (15) minutes in the second half of such shifts.

  • Work Week and Work Day (a) (Applicable to full-time employees only) The normal or standard work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours, with a normal or standard work day of seven and one-half (7½) hours except in those Hospitals where agreements already provide a standard or normal work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours per week and seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. (Those Hospitals with the lesser required hours shall reflect in the salary rates a pro-rata lesser amount compared with salaries for other Hospitals based on the ratio that the standard or normal hours of work at the Hospital concerned are to thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours and shall appropriately reflect such hours in this Article). The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.
