Charge Nurse Differential. When assigned by nursing management to work as the Charge Nurse on a shift where more than one (1) registered nurse is scheduled and when nursing management is unavailable, the assigned registered nurse shall be compensated five percent (5%) above his/her current base rate. Such compensation shall be for actual hours worked as the Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse may request an adjustment to his/her patient care assignment if necessary to accomplish charge duties, emergent, or emergency situations.

Charge Nurse Differential. When a nurse is assigned to perform the duties of Charge Nurse for the day, that nurse shall receive a charge nurse differential in the amount of one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per hour for all hours worked. In addition, nurses shall receive shift differential as provided in Section 12.
Charge Nurse Differential. Effective January 1, 2010 the charge nurse differential will be one dollar and seventy-five cents ($1.75) per hour. A Staff Nurse who is assigned by management, or his/her designee, to perform the function of a charge nurse assumes responsibility for the operation of the floor or unit. A staff nurse who is designated to perform the functions of a Charge Nurse shall receive the Charge Nurse differential for the time so designated by management. When assigning charge duties, the Hospital will first seek volunteers. If there are no volunteers deemed qualified by management, charge duties will be assigned. If there is a need to assign a staff nurse to be a Charge Nurse for an extended period of time, volunteers will be sought first, but the final decision regarding the assignment rests with management.
