ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE BEREAVEMENT. An employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a death of a parent, spouse (including spouses of the same sex), or child shall be granted up to four (4) consecutive days off inclusive of the day of the funeral without loss of her regular pay. An employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a death of a family member shall be granted up to three (3) consecutive days off inclusive April Co March llective Agreement
ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE BEREAVEMENT. An employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement in her immediate family shall be granted up to three (3) consecutive days off inclusive of the day of the funeral without loss of her regular pay. "Immediate family" means father, mother, brother, sister, spouse (including spouses of the same sex), son, daughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law and daughter-in- law. "In-laws" include the relatives of a spouse of the same sex. Where an employee does not qualify under the above mentioned conditions, the Hospital may nonetheless grant a paid bereavement leave. The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. The employee shall receive pay only for the days that were granted when she was scheduled to work following the death of a relative but does not work due to the special leave. Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with the above provision. The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave under the above provision will not be counted against the employee's vacation its.

  • ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE The Employer, may, in its discretion, grant a leave of absence with or without pay to any employee for education personal reasons. Request for leave of absence shall be in writing and submitted to his supervisor who will forward the same to the designated Human Resources representative for approval. An employeeshall not be required to use his accumulated vacation before requesting a leave of absence for non-vacation purposes. The Employer shall grant leaves of absence without pay to up to four (4) employees to attend Union conventions or seminars, provided that: such leave does not unduly interfere with the operation requirements of the Employer; the total leave of absence granted hereunder shall not exceed twenty-five working days per year of the agreement; not more than one (1) employee from any program unit may receive leave hereunder at any one time and; the Union gives fourteen (14) clear notice of such leave to the Employer. Leave of absence due to pregnancy and/or parental leave shall be granted in accordance with the requirements of the Standards Act of Ontario If an employee who has completed his probationary period is required to serve as a juror, he shall not lose his regular pay because of such attendance provided he notifies his supervisor immediately upon notification that he will be required to serve as a juror, presents proof of service and promptly pays to the Employer any amounts paid to him for such service. Employees absent from work for any continuous period of fifteen (15) calendar days or more other than a period of vacation leave or paid sick leave shall not earn vacation or sick leave credits during the period of any such absence and anniversary dates shall be adjusted accordingly except as specified in Article In addition, the Employer shall not be required to contribute to the payment of health and welfare benefits during any such absence. Employees who desire to maintain health and welfare benefits through the Employer must arrange payments of premiums for all such benefits and pay all such premiums through the Employer before commencing any absence. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, it is agreed that the Employer shall maintain health and welfare benefits for employees who are off work on Long Term Disability or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits for a period of up to one (1) year from the date such employee ceased working for the Employer provided the employee pays his portion of the health and welfare benefits premium. An employee shall be entitled to paternity leave which shall consist of one (1)day with pay and two (2) days without pay.

  • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.

  • Paid Leave of Absence Upon request an employee shall be granted a leave of absence with pay for:

  • Leave of Absences A leave of absence, subject to the College’s discretion may be granted for a minimum of one term’s absence. All requests for a planned leave of absence from the College, for one term or more, must be submitted in writing to the relevant Head of School for approval at least one full term in advance of the commencement of the leave. The request can be granted only where all Tuition Fees and Charges and any other amounts owing to the College at the time of the request have been paid in full.   • SICK LEAVE OF ABSENCE 25.01 Employees, who are permitted to go home due to non- occupational illness or injury, will not be paid for the remainder of their shift.
