Waste minimization definition

Waste minimization means pollution prevention, beneficial use or reuse of a hazardous waste, and legitimate recov- ery or reclamation of a hazardous waste.
Waste minimization means any effort to reduce or recycle the quantity of waste generated and, when feasible, to reduce or eliminate toxicity. "Waste minimization" does not include treatment unless the treatment is part of the recycling process.
Waste minimization means any activity, process or measure undertaken for the purpose of reducing, reusing, recycling or recovering waste;

  • Moore Opinions of the Colorado Supreme Court are available to the public and can be accessed through the Judicial Branch’s homepage athttp://www.courts.state.co.us.

  • Waste minimization and appropriate recycling of materials is encouraged.

  • Waste minimization usually benefits the waste producer in terms of costs for; the purchase of goods, waste treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste.

  • Waste minimization is required by RCRA, and LaRC strives to minimize the volume and toxicity of wastes generated at the Center.

  • Waste minimization can be as expensive as replacing a regular vapor degreaser with one that has an airlock, or it can be as simple as using large, refillable containers to reduce the amount of material disposed of on the walls of emptied containers.

More Definitions of Waste minimization

Waste minimization means any practice that reduces the volume or toxicity of hazardous waste that has been generated.
Waste minimization means a reduction of the amount or toxicity of pollutants requiring disposal, including but not limited to:
Waste minimization means waste minimization within the meaning of the regulations.
Waste minimization means the reduction, to the extent feasible, of waste that is generated or subsequently treated, stored or disposed of. It includes any source reduction or recycling activity undertaken by a generator or facility operator that results in either (i) the reduction of total volume or quantity of waste, or (ii) the reduction of toxicity or other characteristics of hazardous waste, or both, so long as the reduction does not result in the displacement of pollutants from one medium to another and is consistent with the goal of minimizing present and future threats to human health and the environment.
Waste minimization means the establishment of practices in all stages of the production, processing and use of radioactive materials to minimize the quantity of waste generated, including its radioactivity.
Waste minimization means a practice that reduces the environmental or health hazards associated with hazardous wastes, pollutants, or contaminants. Examples may include reuse, recycling, neutralization, and detoxification.
