Topcoat means a coating that is applied over a primer on an aerospace vehicle or component for appearance, identification, camouflage, or protection. Topcoats that are defined as specialty coatings are not included under this definition.
Touch-up coating means a coating used to cover minor coating imperfections appearing after the main coating operation.
Roll coating means the application of a coating material to a substrate by means of hard rubber or steel rolls.
Clear coating means a transparent coating designed to provide the final gloss and resistance properties of the coating system;
Single coat means one film coating applied to a metal surface.
Basecoat means a coat of colored material, usually opaque, that is applied before graining inks, glazing coats, or other opaque finishing materials and is usually topcoated for protection.
Flat coating means a coating that is not defined under any other definition in this section and that registers gloss less than 15 on an 85-degree meter or less than 5 on a 60-degree meter.
Dip coating means the application of a coating material to a substrate by dipping the part into a tank of the coating material.
Brands means the Sprint PCS Brands and the Sprint Brands.
Nexus means that a partnership’s business activity is of such a degree that the state or foreign country has jurisdic- tion to impose an income tax or franchise tax measured by net income. Under Public Law 86-272, a state can’t impose an income tax or franchise tax based on net income on a partnership selling tangible personal property if the part- nership’s only activity in the state is the solicitation of or- ders, which orders are approved outside the state and are filled by delivery from a point outside the state.
Flow coating means a coating labeled and formulated exclusively for use by electric power companies or their subcontractors to maintain the protective coating systems present on utility transformer units.
Nuclear coating means a protective coating formulated and recommended to seal porous surfaces such as steel (or concrete) that otherwise would be subject to intrusions by radioactive materials. These coatings must be resistant to long-term (service life) cumulative radiation exposure [ASTM method D4082], relatively easy to decontaminate, and resistant to various chemicals to which the coatings are likely to be exposed [ASTM method D3912].
Green means products, materials, methods and processes certified by a “Green Authority” that conserve natural resources, reduce energy or water consumption, avoid toxic or other polluting emissions or otherwise minimize environmental impact.
First Storey means that part of a building having a floor area closest to grade with a ceiling height of more than 1.8 metres (6 ft.) above grade.
Forest means an area of land defined by the minimum values for area size, tree crown cover or an equivalent stocking level, and potential tree height at maturity at the place of growth of the trees as specified for each Member State in Annex II. It includes areas with trees, including groups of growing, young, natural trees, or plantations that have yet to reach the minimum values for tree crown cover or an equivalent stocking level or minimum tree height as specified in Annex II, including any area that normally forms part of the forest area but on which there are temporarily no trees as a result of human intervention, such as harvesting, or as a result of natural causes, but which area can be expected to revert to forest;
Faux finishing coating means a coating labeled and formulated as a stain or a glaze to create artistic effects including, but not limited to, dirt, old age, smoke damage, and simulated marble and wood grain.
Rock means the body of consolidated or partially consolidated material composed of minerals at or below the land surface. Rock includes bedrock and partially weathered rock that is hard and cannot be dug with hand tools. The upper boundary of rock is "saprolite," "soil," or the land surface.
Specialty coating means a coating that is used for unusual job performance requirements, usually in small amounts. These products include but are not limited to adhesion primers, resist coatings, soft coatings, reflective coatings, electrostatic prep coatings, headlamp lens coatings, ink pad printing coatings, stencil coatings, texture coatings (automotive), vacuum metalizing coatings, and gloss flatteners.
Spirits means any beverage which contains alcohol obtained by distillation mixed with drinkable water and other substances in solution, including, but not limited to, brandy, rum, whisky, and gin.
Antenna coating means a coating labeled and formulated exclusively for application to equipment and associated structural appurtenances that are used to receive or transmit electromagnetic signals.
Tree means any object of natural growth.
