Technical Institution definition

Technical Institution means an institution of Government, Government Aided and Private (self financing) conducting the courses/programmes in the field of technical education, training and research in Engineering, Technology including MCA, Architecture, Town Planning, Management, Pharmacy, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Applied Arts & Crafts and such other programmes and areas as notified by the Council from time to time;

Technical Institution means an educational institution that offers certificates, diplomas, or technical degrees in technical or occupational-related programs, including a facility called a vocational-technical school, technical institute, health technology center, technology center, technical college, or similar designation; and

Technical Institution means and includes a Commerce College or Government College of Management Sciences or Technical Institute or Technical and Vocational Training Center or Skill Development Center in the public sector imparting technical education to students leading to the award of a degree or a diploma or a certificate.

• Provided that the restrictions mentioned above shall not be applicable, if the Technical Institution is established by the Government of India or its name is approved by the Government of India.

• The Head of the “Technical Institution” shall be named as the “Principal/ Director” having qualifications as per AICTE norms as defined for Principal in a Programme of the Technical Institution.

• Based on the views (if any) of the State Government/ UT and the affiliating University/ Board for setting up of new Technical Institution, the Regional Committee shall take a decision about the processing of application or to reject the same.

• In all the above cases, Institutions seeking approval for the first time from AICTE shall submit an application as a new Technical Institution for all their existing Technical Programme(s) and Course(s).

Technical Institution means an institution as defined under clause (h) of section 2 of the All India Council for Technical Education Act, 1987 but excluding Technical Universities and Universities offering technical programmes;
