Teacher aides. During the first month of each school year, building level administrators will provide an annual in- service for teacher aides and classroom teachers to whom the aides are assigned. Secretaries and Campus-Level Office Managers: Newly hired Secretaries and campus-level Office Managers may request up to forty (40) hours of training as part of their orientation to enhance performance, make the transition smooth, and ensure their success. The District shall choose a currently employed Secretary or campus-level Office Manager to provide the training and shall determine whether the training shall occur during the regular work day or outside the regular work day. For all training outside the regular workday, both employees shall be paid their regular hourly wage (plus any applicable overtime.) For all training that occurs during the regular workday, the mentor/trainer shall be paid their regular hourly wage plus an additional $10/hour. Nurses: Nurses may use at least three (3) designated non-student attendance days for the purpose of securing Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Such days will be designated by administration and announced to nurses at the start of each school year. To encourage the professional growth of employees, the Board shall establish a pool of 25 professional leave days for use by CESP employees each year.
