Standard Definition definition

Standard Definition or “SD” means (a) for NTSC, any resolution equal to or less than 480 lines of vertical resolution (and equal to or less than 720 lines of horizontal resolution) and (b) for PAL, any resolution equal to or less than 576 lines of vertical resolution (and equal to or less than 720 lines of horizontal resolution).

Examples of Standard Definition in a sentence

  • Standard Definition Channels may be referred to as Zee Group SD Channels and High Definition Channels may be referred to as Zee Group HD Channels.

  • If an HDCP connection cannot be established, as required by section “Digital Outputs” above, the playback of Current Films over an output on a General Purpose Computing Platform (either digital or analogue) must be limited to a resolution no greater than Standard Definition (SD).

More Definitions of Standard Definition

Standard Definition means encoding (i) with not more than 480 (for NTSC sourced content) or 576 (for PAL sourced content) horizontal lines and (ii) in all cases not more than 720 vertical lines.
Standard Definition means any resolution that is lower than 720p.
Standard Definition or “SD” means a Licensed Title with a maximum vertical resolution of 576 lines and a maximum total resolution of 520,000 pixels per frame.

Standard Definition or “SD” means: (i) with respect to Television system delivery: a video resolution of less than or equal to 480i60 if NTSC based (or 576i50 if PAL based) and a video bit rate of less than or equal to 4 megabits/second, and the video codec must be no greater than H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, and (ii) with respect to OTT Delivery, a video resolution of less than or equal to 720 x 480 (i.e., 480p) with a video bit rate of less than or equal to 2.5 megabits/second, and the video codec must be no greater than H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. For the avoidance of doubt, Standard Definition does not include any 3D format.
Standard Definition. (“SD”) means, for the purposes of this Franchise, a display format for digital television transmissions of PEG Channels transmitted in a 4:3 aspect ratio with a resolution of 480p, or the highest resolution used for the delivery of SD signals of local broadcast stations, if lower than 480p.
