Special maternity leave definition

Special maternity leave means maternity leave provided under 7.4.9.1.
Special maternity leave unpaid leave for a period as specified in a medical certificate can be taken by an employee because she has a pregnancy-related illness or because the pregnancy has ended otherwise than due to the birth of a child.
Special maternity leave means maternity leave provided under F.5.9.1.

If an employee takes Special maternity leave, she will be required to provide Armaguard with: • An application for Special Maternity Leave stating the first and last days of the leave; and • If the employee has a pregnancy related illness - a medical certificate confirming the illness and that the employee is unfit to work; or • If the employee’s pregnancy has ended - a medical certificate and a statutory declaration. This is required to be provided to the Company before, or as soon as reasonably practicably after, starting a continuous period of leave including the Special Maternity Leave.
Special maternity leave means leave taken by the employee where the pregnancy ends within 24 weeks of the expected date of birth (other than by the birth of a living child), or where they suffer illness related to their pregnancy, and are not then on Paid Maternity Leave; provided that a medical practitioner certifies such leave to be necessary before the return to work.
