Special material definition

Special material means bulky materials or other special wastes that are not stored in standard storage containers and cannot be picked up by a normally used collection vehicle. With the exception of major appliances, all wastes such as furniture, “do it yourself” building materials, tree limbs, non-containerized trash piles and any unusually large amount of refuse not suitable for containerization will be picked up at the curb as a special service of the Grantee at no additional charge. This service will be limited to materials that can safely be collected by the use of a mechanical “clamshell” hoist collection vehicle. Discarded major appliances will be collected by Grantee at a charge specified in Section 30. All fees received by the Grantee for the collection of special materials are subject to the City’s Franchise Fee.
