Situation A. One or two working days prior to a scheduled vacation or the annual vacation shutdown an employee experiences a death in the family to which the employee otherwise meets the eligibility requirements for three (3) or four (4) days of Bereavement Leave: The employee will be entitled to the unused balance of the Bereavement Leave after the vacation or shutdown. Situation B: While on vacation during a scheduled vacation or the annual vacation shutdown an employee experiences a death in the family to which the employee otherwise meets the eligibility requirements for three (3) or four (4) days of Bereavement Leave: If the death and funeral occur during the scheduled week of vacation an employee may:  return the vacation cheque and reschedule the vacation at a later time, mutually agreed upon with the supervisor, or  take three days of paid bereavement leave directly after the scheduled vacation, or  schedule three mutually agreeable days of bereavement at a later date. If the death and funeral occur during the vacation shutdown, the employee will be entitled to book up to one (1) week of additional time off without pay, at a later time, mutually agreed upon with the supervisor. * If the death occurs during a scheduled vacation, but the funeral takes place after the vacation, the employee is entitled to bereavement leave immediately after the vacation period for a maximum of three (3) or four (4) working days. * If the death occurs during the vacation shutdown, but the funeral takes place after the shutdown, the employee is entitled to Bereavement Leave immediately after the vacation period, up to, and including the day of the funeral, to a maximum of three (3) or four (4) working days. Situation C: While on vacation during a scheduled vacation or an annual vacation shutdown an employee experiences a death in the family to which the employee otherwise meets the eligibility requirements for one (1) day of Bereavement Leave to attend the funeral. There is no entitlement to Bereavement Leave if the funeral occurs during the annual vacation shutdown, however the employee would be entitled to one day of bereavement if on scheduled vacation. * If the funeral is on a workday after the scheduled vacation or the vacation shutdown, the employee is entitled to Bereavement Leave for the day of the funeral.
