Sick leave shall be defined as time off the job because of: illness; bodily injury; exposure to a contagious disease; attendance upon members of the immediate family; death in the immediate family; and diagnostic treatment, dental procedures and optician services when such services are performed by duly licensed practitioners.

Any sick leave taken for bereavement purposes shall be deducted from the employee’s sick leave allotment. Sick and personal days are calculated in Skyward to correspond to an employees work day hours for their primary assignment. Extra duties are not included for time-off and no sick/personal time compensation is paid for “out of work day” extra assignments. Employees that change from part time to full-time or from full time to part time will have their sick and personal time recalculated in proportion to their change in hours. An employee has two (2) years to dispute time off. All records previous to that are considered final.

Sick leave may be used by any pregnant employee when there is a known or suspected case of German Measles or any other disease or condition which could be harmful to pregnancy in the place of employment.
