Sick Leave definition

Sick Leave means the period of time an employee is absent from work with or without pay, by virtue of sickness, quarantine, or accident, or out-of-town medical/dental referrals for which compensation is not payable under the Worker's Compensation Act.
Sick Leave means a leave of absence with pay for a sickness suffered by an employee or their immediate family. Sick leave may also be used for maternity related disability, medical, dental and eye examination or treatment, care of or attendance to another relative for reasons herein at the agency's discretion, and attendance for death or funeral of an immediate family member, or the illness of another person at the agency's discretion.
Sick Leave means all necessary absence from duty because of illness, bodily injury, or exclusion from employment because of exposure to contagious disease.

Examples of Sick Leave in a sentence

  • Sick leave payment shall not exceed the normal scheduled work day or work week earnings.

  • Sick leave shall accrue from the date of appointment to a benefit-eligible position.

  • Sick leave shall not be counted towards hours worked for purposes of overtime payment unless the employee provides a signed physician’s statement for the period of sick leave.

  • Sick leave is defined as a necessary period of absence because of the employee’s own illness or for exposure of the employee to contagious disease.

  • Sick leave may also be used for pre-planned medical and dental appointments provided that the employee submits a request as soon as is practical with the expectation that the employee shall provide at least one weeks notice if possible.
