Security Rule definition

Security Rule means the Security Standards for the Protection of Electronic Protected Health Information at 45 C.F.R. part 160 and part 164, subpart A and C.

  • As defined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Security Rule at 45 CFR 164.304, means the use of an algorithmic process to transform Personally Identifiable Information into an unusable, unreadable, or indecipherable form in which there is a low probability of assigning meaning without use of a confidential process or key.

  • It is not intended that an agency relationship (as defined under the federal common law of agency) be established hereby expressly or by implication between Trend Micro and Company under HIPAA or the Privacy Rule, Security Rule, or Breach Notification Rule.
