Relief Sewer definition

Relief Sewer means a sewer constructed to relieve an existing line or lines determined to be structurally defective or inadequate and of insufficient capacity.
Relief Sewer or "Auxiliary Drain" shall mean a sewer or storm drain constructed to supplement the capacity of an existing sewer or drain either by conveying part of the wastes which would otherwise be conveyed by said existing sewer or drain, or to divert from and convey certain of the wastes, such as part or all of the storm water, which, prior to the construction of the auxiliary sewer or relief sewer, would have been discharged into and conveyed by said existing sewer. The particular wastes to be conveyed by any any such auxiliary sewer or drain, or relief sewer or drain, shall be determined by what wastes it was designed, laid out or intended to receive and convey as may appear in the records of the Bureau of Public Works or other body which created it.
Relief Sewer means (a) a sewer built to carry the flows in excess of the capacity of an existing sewer, (b) a sewer intended to carry a portion of the flow from a district in which the existing sewers are of insufficient capacity, and thus prevent overtaxing the latter, or (c) replacement of the existing sewer in place with a larger sewer main.
