Relief Employees definition

Relief Employees as used in this Agreement are those employees in the bargaining unit who may be scheduled from time to time. Relief employees are required to make a written commitment to the Employer to be available for work on call as required. The employee has the right to accept or decline the offer of work each time the employee is called, subject to the provisions of Article 11.04 (f) and (g).
Relief Employees are employees who work on a casual or hourly basis, or who are called into work when needed by the employer or who work on an intermittent basis such that the nature of the relationship between the Employer and the Relief employee is one where neither the Relief employee nor the Employer owe any continuing obligation to each other, except that when a Relief Employee is offered and accepts a shift, the Relief Employee has an obligation to work that shift. Relief Employees will not be covered by the provisions of the Collective Agreement which deal with Lay off and Recall, Sick Leave, Benefit Plans, Vacations and Vacation Pay, Paid Holidays, Leaves of Absence and their entitlements, if any, in respect of such matters shall be pursuant to the Employment Standards Act. Relief employees shall accumulate seniority in accordance with Article 14.
Relief Employees mean persons who have committed to be available to fill shifts on short notice as per the collective agreement.

  • The engineer in charge will call Relief Employees on pager to work as Relief.

Relief Employees is an employee who:
Relief Employees are employees who are not normally on a pre- determined schedule but are available to work as required by the Employer. The employee has the right to accept or decline any shift that is offered, provided that relief employees must work a minimum of eight (8) hours within any 30-day period.
Relief Employees transportation costs to join and leave the vessel upon termination of temporary assignment shall be paid by the Company.
