Provisional appointment definition

Provisional appointment means the employment of a person to a vacant position for no more than a six-month period for emergency or in interim conditions. The General Manager may extend a provisional appointment for up to an additional six-month period.
Provisional appointment means an appointment to a position, limited to three months, in the absence of names of qualified candidates on the register or registers for the class, of a person meeting the minimum qualifications specified for the class.
Provisional appointment means an appointment authorized by the director when an appropriate list is not available. To be eligible for a provisional appointment the appointee must meet the minimum qualifications for the class, but not have successfully completed the required examination. Whenever an eligible list is established for the class in which the provisional appointment is made, the provision appointment will be terminated. However, no provisional appointee shall hold his position for more than six (6) months.

  • Normally, a person would have completed a Provisional Appointment at the University prior to receiving a Candidacy Appointment.

More Definitions of Provisional appointment

Provisional appointment means an appointment made in the absence of a list 24 of candidates certified as qualified by the director. Only the director may authorize a provisional 25 appointment. An appointment to this status is limited to six months.
