Properly relieved definition

Properly relieved means no employee leaves his/her workstation until relieved by another employee of the same classification. When there is no employee in that classification available an employee in a higher classification may be assigned these duties.
Properly relieved means, the incoming production worker is changed and ready for work and has been informed of all pertinent issues concerning the operation of the plant and tasks assigned by management. For clarity, any period of time spent on site prior to a shift formally commencing (early arrival) is voluntary and shall be unpaid. Equally, any period of time spent on site after a shift formally finishing (late departure to permit showering) is voluntary and shall be unpaid. Where maintenance employees are scheduled to work eight (8) hour shifts, one (1) Maintenance employee shall be permitted to use the shower five (5) minutes prior to the conclusion of his shift. The identity of the specific Maintenance employee will be decided by the Maintenance employees or, in the event of a disagreement as between them, by alternating each shift.
