Professional Leave may be granted by the supervisor, upon the written request of the bargaining unit member at least sixty (60) days in advance, for such purpose as education, service in a professional organization in the bargaining unit member's field, and professional advancement.

The amount of time that the representative is released prior to the end of the normal workday will be deducted from the time allowed for Professional Leave at the rate of eight (8) hours equaling one (1) day.
