Personal Medical Leave definition

Personal Medical Leave shall be defined as leave used when the employee has a personal illness, injury or disability.

Examples of Personal Medical Leave in a sentence

  • While an employee is on an approved Personal Medical Leave, UMass Memorial will continue the employee's health benefits at the same level and under the same conditions as if the employee had continued to be actively at work.

  • Bargaining Unit who has been granted a Personal Medical Leave may participate in District approved insurance programs provided the Member of the Bargaining Unit pays the necessary premiums for such insurance programs.

  • The employee’s own serious health condition that prevents the employee from performing the essential functions of his/her position (this includes employees out on workers’ compensation – Personal Medical Leave will run concurrently with workers’ compensation).

  • Residents who take a Leave of Absence for any reason during the specialty training period will be informed in writing by the Program Director of the effect of the Personal Medical Leave of Absence/Personal Leave of Absence on both program completion and eligibility for specialty board examination.

  • Eligible employees may be granted up to 12 weeks of unpaid Personal Medical Leave in a rolling 12-month period.

  • A Personal Medical Leave (non-FMLA) is for an employee’s own serious health condition that prevents the employee from performing the essential functions of his/her position.

  • Once that meeting is completed an application should be submitted to Human Resources at least thirty (30) days in advance of foreseeable Personal Medical Leave.

  • If the employee does not meet the requirements under FMLA or has used all the allotted time allowable under FMLA, the employee may be eligible for a Personal Medical Leave.

  • Employees who do not meet the eligibility requirements of FMLA may apply for a Personal Medical Leave (non-FMLA).

  • The employee must notify their Department Head prior to submitting their application for Personal Medical Leave.

Related to Personal Medical Leave

  • Medical leave means leave of up to a total of 12 workweeks in a 12-month period because of an employee’s own serious health condition that makes the employee unable to work at all or unable to perform any one or more of the essential functions of the position of that employee. The term “essential functions” is defined in Government Code section 12926. “Medical leave” does not include leave taken for an employee’s pregnancy disability, as defined in (n) below, except as specified below in section 11093(c)(1).

  • Personal Leave means leave provided for:

  • Family and Medical Leave means a leave of absence for the birth, adoption or foster care of a child, or for the care of your child, spouse or parent or for your own serious health condition as those terms are defined by the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and any amendments, or by applicable state law.

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) means section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.

  • Personal harassment means any improper behaviour by a person employed by the Employer that is directed at and offensive to another person employed by the Employer which the first person knew or ought reasonably to have known would be unwelcome. Personal harassment comprises objectionable conduct, comment, act or display that demeans, belittles or causes personal humiliation or embarrassment to the recipient.

  • Military caregiver leave means leave taken to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness.

  • FMLA Leave means a leave of absence, which the Company is required to extend to an Employee under the provisions of the FMLA.

  • Sexual act means conduct between persons consisting of contact between the penis and the vulva, the penis and the anus, the mouth and the penis, the mouth and the vulva, or any intrusion, however slight, by any part of a person’s body or object into the genital or anal opening of another.

  • Pregnancy Leave means leave taken for purposes related to giving birth and/or recovering therefrom.

  • Community health worker means an individual who:

  • Parental leave means leave to bond and to care for a newborn child after birth or to bond and care for a child after placement for adoption or xxxxxx care, for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks after the birth or placement.
