Medical Evacuation definition

Medical Evacuation means Physician-ordered Transportation Expense which is arranged and approved by Our Program Assistance Provider. An unscheduled return by the same or like mode of transportation as originally scheduled without additional transportation requirements is not a Medical Evacuation.

Medical Evacuation means the removal of the Insured from abroad to a hospital within India where necessary medical care can be accorded to him, including medical care required en route.

Medical Evacuation is necessitated by an acute injury or illness that results in the necessary emergency evacuation of the member to the nearest facility where definitive treatment can be given. An emergency evacuation must be ordered by a licenced physician who certifies that the severity of the injury of illness warrants an emergency evacuation.

Examples of Medical Evacuation in a sentence

• If the local attending Physician and Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider cannot adequately assess Your need for Emergency Medical Evacuation or transportation, and a Physician is dispatched by the Travel Assistance Services Provider to make such assessment, benefits will be paid for the travel expenses incurred and medical services provided by the dispatched Physician.

• In the event You have not contacted Us or Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider to arrange for Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation or Repatriation of Remains, benefits will be limited to the amount We would have paid had We or Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider been contacted and related services pre-approved.

• In the event that Your Injury or Sickness prevents for You to obtain prior authorization of the Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation or Repatriation of Remains, You must make all efforts to notify Us or Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider as soon as reasonably possible.

• Transportation expenses for the Emergency Medical Evacuation and Medical Repatriation must be authorized and arranged in advance in advance by Us or Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider.

• Where the loss occurs after a breach but before the remedy, the Insurer will not be liable for that loss and the Insured Person shall be solely responsible for all expenses relating to their claim, including Emergency Medical Evacuation costs.

Medical Evacuation. (also known as a “medevac”) means a timely movement and en route care to sick or injured patients from the scene of an accident to receiving medical facilities, or from a rural hospital requiring urgent care to a better-equipped facility using ambulances or aircraft.

Medical Evacuation means an Injury or Sickness commencing during the period of coverage that results in the necessary emergency evacuation of the Plan Participant. An emergency evacuation must be ordered by a legally licensed physician who certifies that the severity of the Plan Participant’s Injury or Sickness warrants the emergency evacuation and authorized by the Travel Assistance company. If the local attending legally qualified Physician and the authorized travel assistance company determine that transportation to a Hospital or medical facility is Medically Necessary to treat an unforeseen Sickness or Injury which is acute or life threatening and adequate medical treatment is not available in the immediate area, the transportation expense incurred will be paid for the Usual and Customary Charges for transportation to the closest Hospital or medical facility capable of providing that treatment. All expenses must be authorized in writing or by an authorized electronic or telephonic means in advance. Repatriation of Remains In the event of death during a trip, the expense incurred within 30 days from the date of the covered loss will be paid for minimally necessary casket or air tray, preparation and transportation of the Plan Participant’s remains to their primary place of residence in the United States of America, or to the place of burial. General Exclusions The Policy does not cover any loss resulting from any of the following unless otherwise covered under the Policy by Additional Benefits:
