Limited benefit health coverage definition

Limited benefit health coverage means, for the purposes of this regulation, a health policy, contract, or certificate offered or marketed as supplemental health insurance that pays specified amounts according to a schedule of benefits to defray the costs of care, services, deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance amounts not covered by a health benefit plan. “Limited benefit health coverage” does not include short-term hospital and medical expense policies, contracts or certificates, or catastrophic health policies, contracts, or certificates. Such non-supplemental plans are included under the term “health benefit plan” as defined in § 10-16-102(32), C.R.S.
