Labor Burden definition

Labor Burden means employer paid costs and expenses (other than labor), resulting directly from change order work, associated with the employment of personnel on the project. These costs include additional expenditures for general liability, worker’s compensation, social security, unemployment taxes and other direct costs resulting from Federal, State or local laws as well as assessments or benefits required by collective bargaining agreements. The maximum allowable cost by DISTRICT, for Labor Burden, shall not exceed forty-five percent (45%) of labor costs.

Examples of Labor Burden in a sentence

  • The Labor Burden shall be supported by the Worker’s Compensation and Employer’s Liability Insurance Policy Information Page.

  • The Contractor or Subcontractor of any tier who actually performs the Work shall be entitled to a reasonable markup of no more than ten percent (10%) on the actual costs for Direct Labor, Labor Burden, Direct Material, Supplies, Installed Equipment, and Equipment Costs, as described in this article.

  • Labor costs must be itemized by craft and hourly rate, including Fringe Benefits and Labor Burden.

  • If the costs of Fringe Benefits and Labor Burden are not itemized, it is assumed that that they are included in the hourly rate shown, or contractor is not requesting reimbursement.

  • Labor Burden may include payroll taxes, Social Security, unemployment insurances, workers compensation insurance, FICA, FUTA, and other direct costs resulting from Federal, State or local laws.

  • Labor Burden by trade for both Subcontractors and General Contractor.

  • With this same submittal, Contractor shall also submit said subcontractor’s Labor Burden Rate (as defined in Article 19.B.1.c.vi) for approval by the Awarding Authority.

  • Monthly costs include, but are not limited to, the following.• Personnel cost including Labor Burden.

  • Labor Burden shall not include any calculations for overhead and profit, shall exclude home office and support personnel not providing labor directly to the Project; and for employees only working on-site part-time, shall include only their pro rata portion of total salary directly connected to Work on the Project.

  • Labor Burden shall NOT include profit, general and administrative costs, short- or long-term disability, home and branch office overhead, profit sharing, bonuses, employee stock ownership plans, vehicle allowances, cell phones, computer charges and other costs not directly related to employee costs.

Related to Labor Burden

  • Labor laws means the following labor laws and E.O.s:

  • Labor organization means any organization of any kind, or any agency or employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and that exists for the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work.

  • Unfair labor practice means the commission of an act designated an unfair labor practice

  • Health and Safety Laws means any Laws pertaining to safety and health in the workplace, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 29 U.S.C. 651 et seq. (“OSHA”), and the Toxic Substances Control Act, 15 U.S.C. 2601, et seq. (“TSCA”).

  • Environmental, Health and Safety Laws means the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, each as amended, together with all other laws (including rules, regulations, codes, plans, injunctions, judgments, orders, decrees, rulings, and charges thereunder) of federal, state, local, and foreign governments (and all agencies thereof) concerning pollution or protection of the environment, public health and safety, or employee health and safety, including laws relating to emissions, discharges, releases, or threatened releases of pollutants, contaminants, or chemical, industrial, hazardous, or toxic materials or wastes into ambient air, surface water, ground water, or lands or otherwise relating to the manufacture, processing, distribution, use, treatment, storage, disposal, transport, or handling of pollutants, contaminants, or chemical, industrial, hazardous, or toxic materials or wastes.

  • Labor costs means total compensation of all employees, not to include compensation paid

  • Environmental and Safety Laws means any federal, state or local laws, ordinances, codes, regulations, rules, policies and orders that are intended to assure the protection of the environment, or that classify, regulate, call for the remediation of, require reporting with respect to, or list or define air, water, groundwater, solid waste, hazardous or toxic substances, materials, wastes, pollutants or contaminants, or which are intended to assure the safety of employees, workers or other persons, including the public.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act means the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No 85 of 1993);

  • Fair Labor Standards Act means the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. §201 et seq.

  • Environmental, Health and Safety Liabilities means any cost, damages, expense, liability, obligation or other responsibility arising from or under Environmental Law or Occupational Safety and Health Law and consisting of or relating to:

  • Community or broad-based enterprise means an enterprise that has an empowerment shareholder who represents a broad base of members such as a local community or where the benefits support a target group, for example black women, people living with disabilities, the youth and workers. Shares are held via direct equity, non-profit organisations and trusts.

  • Employment Practices means any wrongful or unfair dismissal, denial of natural justice, defamation, misleading representation or advertising, unfair contracts, harassment or discrimination (sexual or otherwise) in respect of employment by the Insured.

  • Material Environmental Liabilities means Environmental Liabilities exceeding $500,000 in the aggregate.

  • Occupational Safety and Health Law means any Legal Requirement designed to provide safe and healthful working conditions and to reduce occupational safety and health hazards, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and any program, whether governmental or private (such as those promulgated or sponsored by industry associations and insurance companies), designed to provide safe and healthful working conditions.

  • Environmental, Health or Safety Requirements of Law means all Requirements of Law derived from or relating to foreign, federal, state and local laws or regulations relating to or addressing pollution or protection of the environment, or protection of worker health or safety, including, but not limited to, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, 42 U.S.C. § 9601 et seq., the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, 29 U.S.C. § 651 et seq., and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, 42 U.S.C. § 6901 et seq., in each case including any amendments thereto, any successor statutes, and any regulations or guidance promulgated thereunder, and any state or local equivalent thereof.

  • Occupational disease means a disease contracted in the course of employment, which by its causes and the characteristics of its manifestation or the condition of the employment results in a hazard which distinguishes the employment in character from employment generally, and the employment creates a risk of contracting the disease in greater degree and in a different manner from the public in general.

  • fradulent practice means a misrepresentation or omission of facts in order to influence a procurement process or the execution of contract;

  • Labor hours means the total hours of workers receiving an hourly wage who are directly employed on the site of a building improvement or public works project. "Labor hours" includes hours performed by workers employed by the general contractor and all subcontractors working on the project. "Labor hours" does not include hours worked by foremen, superintendents, project managers, project engineers, and owners.

  • Employment Practices Wrongful Act means any actual or alleged:

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements means all federal, state, local and foreign statutes, regulations, ordinances and other provisions having the force or effect of law, all judicial and administrative orders and determinations, all contractual obligations and all common law concerning public health and safety, worker health and safety, and pollution or protection of the environment, including without limitation all those relating to the presence, use, production, generation, handling, transportation, treatment, storage, disposal, distribution, labeling, testing, processing, discharge, release, threatened release, control, or cleanup of any hazardous materials, substances or wastes, chemical substances or mixtures, pesticides, pollutants, contaminants, toxic chemicals, petroleum products or byproducts, asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls, noise or radiation, each as amended and as now or hereafter in effect.

  • Coal Act means the Coal Industry Retiree Health Benefits Act of 1992, as amended.

  • Labor means laborers, mechanics, and other employees below the rank of supervisor, directly employed at the Site of the Work subject to the Manager or their designee’s authority to determine what employees of any category are “required for Extra Work” and as to the portion of their time allotted to Extra Work; and “cost of labor” means the wages actually paid to and received by such employees plus a proper proportion of (a) vacation allowances and union dues and assessments which the employer actually pays pursuant to contractual obligation upon the basis of such wages, and (b) taxes actually paid by the employer pursuant to law upon the basis of such wages and workers’ compensation premiums paid pursuant to law. “Employees” as used above means only the employees of one employer.

  • Bargaining Unit means the unit of Employees as described on the Labour Relations Board Certificate.

  • Environmental Laws means any and all Federal, state, local, and foreign statutes, laws, regulations, ordinances, rules, judgments, orders, decrees, permits, concessions, grants, franchises, licenses, agreements or governmental restrictions relating to pollution and the protection of the environment or the release of any materials into the environment, including those related to hazardous substances or wastes, air emissions and discharges to waste or public systems.

  • Environmental and Safety Requirements means all federal, state, local and foreign statutes, regulations, ordinances and similar provisions having the force or effect of law, all judicial and administrative orders and determinations, all contractual obligations and all common law concerning public health and safety, worker health and safety and pollution or protection of the environment, including all such standards of conduct and bases of obligations relating to the presence, use, production, generation, handling, transport, treatment, storage, disposal, distribution, labeling, testing, processing, discharge, release, threatened release, control, or cleanup of any hazardous materials, substances or wastes, chemical substances or mixtures, pesticides, pollutants, contaminants, toxic chemicals, petroleum products or by-products, asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (or PCBs), noise or radiation.

  • Environmental Actions means any complaint, summons, citation, notice, directive, order, claim, litigation, investigation, judicial or administrative proceeding, judgment, letter, or other communication from any Governmental Authority, or any third party involving violations of Environmental Laws or releases of Hazardous Materials from (a) any assets, properties, or businesses of Borrower or any predecessor in interest, (b) from adjoining properties or businesses, or (c) from or onto any facilities which received Hazardous Materials generated by Borrower or any predecessor in interest.
